  • W. Beard: Endeavour School Graphics

Recently completed a massive window graphic installation at a school, it consisted of a courtyard of over 200sqm of white etch, grey, chrome and a few small pieces of optically clear print due to fine detail. We had 3 weeks to complete from start to finish before Christmas (we finished at 12 on the 24th 😮 ) Long nights and early mornings wasn’t fun 😕

The most difficult thing about the job was they specified a white etch which I had to import from Germany and it came on white backing paper, we had to use torches to highlight the cuts so we could weed it and then the same method to cut it up with the app tape on it, they really need to put it on a blue backing 👿

In addition to the courtyard there were 14 doors and windows and also about 200m of 40mm safety dots with grey icons randomly placed and in place of random dots. Even the toilet doors had some fancy graphics :lol1:

There’s lots of images and a few video’s

it’s was really hard to get decent pictures through the glass so you won’t be able to appreciate it as much as if you saw it unfortunately but you get the idea 😉 :lol1:

    How many fitters involved?

I fitted all except the dots which I had a young guy helping, I initially hired him to help clean the windows and pick up after me and put out the graphics as I needed them so I didn’t have to run back and forth but he soon had nothing to do so I got him to do the dots around the school.

Another cracking job Warren, well done.

You have come a long way in a relatively short period of time, long may it continue.

    Whats your name…Andrew Boyle 😀

Giving him a run for his money there Warren, wonderful job.

That’s a lot of vinyl to cut and apply on your own.
What was the brief on a job like that, was it all measured prior, did you measure it and work out how much vinyl etc.

BTW, how much is it to play the golf course in the middle..looks challenging

That’s outstanding but you have to ask where on earth does the money come from to build a school like that in the first place especially when you see so many falling apart.

Moan over, a fantastic job Warren, total commitment which has paid off – Well done.

Big up to Warren that’s a fantastic piece of work.
I hope you were paid handsomely for a project of that scale.

Lend us a tenner mate!!!! 🙂

Seriously though that really is impressive, well done. Are you entering the Sign Show comp this year? I think I’ll give it a miss!!!!

    That’s awesome. Very impressive.

Did you do the design for it all?

Really like how the class rooms are named

Eg: Armstrong with the astronaut on the window, Hillary with the mountain, and Columbus with the ship.

Do the subjects taught in the class correspond to the name?

    Thanks guys.

I was supplied all the artwork in vector format, I had to separate and make it cut ready. Cut 195m of white etch at 1260mm wide and then about 10m of grey and double sided chrome. As it was a new build all the dimensions were on the plans and the artwork was made up to these sizes by the designer. I was told they were correct so worked to them, they ended up being about 10mm smaller so had to trim off the excess on the windows which was better than it being too small 😮 :lol1:

I was given one wall of the artwork to get an idea of it and then just did an educated guess of how much vinyl I would need, it was the etch that was a worry as there was a lot and it was coming in from Germany so had to be sure I had enough, I ended up using 195m of the 200m ordered 😮

not entering any awards, no time for that :lol1:

They are aware it can be picked off (it was even installed on the inside as per their instructions) but they are happy to monitor it, I think even kids will love how it looks and won’t want to pick it (It’s a primary school)

The themes of each wall (as per titles of pics) are deliberate obviously but don’t think the designs on the doors correspond to what is being taught inside the classroom :lol1:

The "golf course" was nice at lunch breaks :lol1:

    cheers

Wow, what a school, I wish mine was like that when i was a few years younger.

Your work is very impressive and quite inspiring to a newbie like myself, are the doors vinyl or painted?
