VP540 Service mode for head alignment
Hi Folks,
Does anyone know how you can get into the service mode Roland VP540 ( If your allowed or is protected for engineers )
Following on from my post
topic67218.html i have attached a new manifold to the cyan head all went ok with test prints looking good.but the print is not great for precise solid blue print.
I have adjusted the bi directional but I, assuming the head is slightly out where it has been removed and to make these changes I need to get into service mode.
Also is this something I should be doing it or do I get an engineer in.
Any advice appreciated

Don’t know if it’s the same for the VP540 , but for the SP300 it’s as follows:-
Side rocker power switch should be on
Front panel power switch should be offNow using the arrow keys, press them in the following order:-
Down, Right, Left ,Up, Right, Down, Left
Then simultaneously press – Left, Right, Down and Power keys all together
It usually takes a few attempts to get the correct speed and rythmn for this to work

But your right, I need to know if I need to get someone in or if its possible to do.
I know it is really a techy job.. but thought I’d ask -
No – I’ve never changed a head, but if it’s a calibration adjustment I don’t see why you couldn’t attempt it yourself providing you have a manual with the instructions how to do it?

If any help it actually looks fairly close and I feel not really the problem you have.
With all of the defections you will struggle to get top print
If your using Roland inks the captops and pump system needs a good sort out basicly the heads are not being looked after. I feel the black may be past it’s life blue mag may improve

I’d look at replacing that black head before stressing about calibrations. All the heads are calibrated to black and with that many deflecting you’re pretty much aligning by guesswork.

I have since printed some blue and it does seem to have improved so wont tamper with anything.
Interesting Stafford about all being calibrated to black, there lies a lot of my problem it seems.
Black head replacement on the cards.Good news is I have got the cyan back up and running.
