    Okay, heres a mini rant:-

Phoned Virgin Media today after getting a flyer through the door saying I could get 20mb fibre optic Broadband in my area for £11 a month. Great I thought as I dont want a landline or TV package, just basic broadband so I can work from home occasionally and play on my Xbox.

30 seconds into the call and im already raging, they cant understand me, and I cant understand them. I spell out phonetically almost every word I say before it becomes clear that im wasting my time. I then ask politely if I could speak to someone else due to the communication problem, person #2 is equally a bad but it does become apparent that I CANT actually get the promised fibre optic connection at my address after all and would have to pay extra for a phone line, thus bumping the price upto £25 a month and the connection was an maximum of 6mb.

I have a bit moan at them that I feel conned as im paying more than double the advertised price for almost a quarter of the speed before they interrupt me to start discussing which TV package I want (I made it clear I ONLY wanted broadband at the start).

It was at this point I slightly lost my composure, used some miners language and hung up!

Now my girlfriend works in a call centre and I do pity some of them as accents can vary wildly, but this is the worst ive ever experienced and I think ill just stick to smoke signals from my ears for my communication methods at home!

Rant over, im going home in a huff!

I have Virgin, must say the actual service itself is great, never really had any problems….BUT,

Customer service from the call centers is appalling to say the least! As Paul said, you either cant understand a word they are saying OR they just do not listen to what you are telling them!

Then again, are any of them any better these days? 👿

Virgin Mobile are just as bad. I pay £25 a month for 1000 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited mobile Internet. That’ll do me I thought. Next thing I know the phones barred. (?)
Rang them and they told me I’d gone over the £75 credit limit……like I knew anything about a credit limit. What they’d done is put 3 bills together in advance so when it showed £75 they barred it. Plus they didn’t tell me I was being charged extra for picture messaging at 30p a time. Took 2 weeks to get it sorted and to me that’s a long downtime as the mobile is used more than the land line.
I had to keep asking myself where I lived whilst talking to them……England or Mumbai! 😕

That’s the whole point though Karl.

Virgin Media is just the glossy front end slapped onto a merger of two troubled companies.

Their service was never likely to be any better than the Telewest and NTL that still lurks in the background.

Misleading though mate. People grew to trust Branson. Then we find he’s only given them the rights to use his brand for a healthy cut of the profits.

    Undoubtedly misleading mate.

Richard may be a prime example, but he’s by no means the only practitioner of that art.

Thing is though John lending his name to a business with a poor reputation could result in a delcine for his other interests. Guilty by association people may think? He’s sold most of his businesses off now though hasn’t he?
