Any road up – I had a guy today with a huge box van that I had quoted to fit computer cut vinyl lettering to. He phoned me up to say go ahead with one or two changes. First he wanted me to include a sign on the front of the van and the cab doors all for the same price as I had already quoted. I was going to agree when he decided he also wanted me to cover the entire van with white vinyl (before fitting the signs) because his paintwork was a bit old and faded. yeah right!! Told him I wasn’t interested in trying to do that . Fine he says I’ll go to someone else who will do it. Cheeky bastard!! I’m still fuming about it now.

Hi Phil, I think people like that are not worth dealing with.
It’s like the classic "How much are your signs?" line.
They want a good price, and then expect you to do it for the same cost with all their additions.

    It makes me mad! (:)

I don’t know Phill, sometimes I get the feeling you just don’t want the work 😀

    Cheeky fucker,
I would have dragged him to my oppositions door step to save him the drive!

your not alone mate… we had similar last week.
a navy box van type thing comes in. (had the worst paint job ever) "but NEWLY DONE" 😕
we gave price, he agreed, van arrives… (bad paint job) we proceed as the jobs now cut.

before collecting we remind him of payment. he says oh yeh "you" forgot my logo. (he had seen several proofs and agreed, but "we had forgot) anyway… we said ok we will add the logo…

he arrives and says Logo isnt big enough and he wants it moved.

after i had an argument with him that he backed down on… he said you dont know what your doing mate… total amatuers, you are…
    then…
"totally different thing to our arguement" he jumps to… the text is all too small…
i said you saw scalled drawings on paper and you sat 3 times getting the van designed and then changed. then you said go for it! now you say its not sized correct…???
    he said..
but it looked fine on the screen, but too me its too small when standing next to it.
i said so we should be mind readers too? 😮

he jumped back to the logo… "i want it stripped and moved" made bigger…

i had his cheque in my pocket so said… the logo was extra we added free… if its to be removed, i will have to charge you for removal… (i knew the paint would come off with it) if its to be redone it will be charged too.

regardless… none of this will happen till next week as we are too busy. so come back….

    he hasnt returned. 🙄 😉

it did mate… i forgot to mention he paid half up front as he DID come across as IFY customer from the word go. 😕

i think people like this deliberately try and get that bit extra at the end….
    then….
    complain….
if the complaint is successful they get you too knock a bit OFF the original price.
so you they end up with a lower costing job with extras included free… 🙄

Why do people think they can hide the bad paint job with vinyl (hot) I always tell them it only makes it more noticeable and I don’t really want to do jobs like that, even when they try to assure me they have 20 more to do 😀 😀 😀 we all get them Phill get a beer and get over it xxxx

Man, what a dickhead. See, I have no patience with people like that. I tend to calmly tell them that I’m not a fucking charity and that I do actually do this for a living. Same with the ones who get angry because they don’t like your price. Why do they get angry? Man, I hate customers.

    Well, some of them.

I love the customer who tries to hide their hideous paint job with the "just add vinyl over it" philosophy. . . It always worries me too because as soon as they tear it off chances are there is some paint coming with it and its all because their $10,000 paint job which was done last week. . . was actually $200 an done back in the late 80’s with a paint brush and roller. 👿 ooo that makes me angry.

Then my next favorite customer is the one you price out a job for multiple vehicles lets say you quote them the job for 5. Oh yeah, they will give you 5. . . . over the course of how long is another story.

Customer: well ya see, two of the trucks aren’t in now, we just ordered another one it will be here in a month, one is in the shop for service. Meanwhile you priced out the job for one run and the same vehicle, and now you have to do several runs and they are trying to get away with ordering different or bigger vehicles.

LoL Im done ranting now — goin to the bar for 1 drink (or 15 drinks) who’s commin with me?
