• vinyl onto velour ?

Posted by Neil Speirs on March 3, 2009 at 2:21 pm

We really need a "garment decoration" section 🙄

Anyway, has anyone heat pressed garment vinyl onto a velour garment before? Any issues with the garment and heat of the press or the vinyl not adhearing to the garment correctly.

It’s a dance school and I don’t want to screw it up 😕

    Hi Neil

Initial thoughts are: 1/ is the velour able to stand up to the heat?
2/ will the pile flatten horribly?

I would be tempted to try a piece first, possibly using another piece on top face-down, as suggested by someone (I forget who, sorry) with fleece garments.

Don’t know if this would work, I haven’t tried it.

    That’s my concerns Lorraine 😕

I’ve got one to try out & it’s been purchased from Debenhams, it has some diamante decoration already and doesn’t show any signs of flattening but knowing my luck 🙄

you should be uk with flock

what do you intend to use?

the velour will flatten – but should stand back up again

i have put flock and diamonte onto towells before, and theres some serious pile depth there

yip, as Lorraine said the pile flattened horribly 🙁

The customer had told me to give it a try and decorate the full outfit (jacket & trousers) but knowing how customers can change their tune when they come into collect their kids ruined 25 quid outfit so just stuck 1 small star onto the bottom back leg. Think she was glad only the leg was done 🙄

Hopefully she will be back to get the rest done if the pile lifts once washed n dried.

She was wanting vinyl Micky, the pink sparkle stuff from xpres. got my fingers crossed the velour does come back up after washing, I think she could be a good door opener into the local dance market here.

thanks Neil – – we do a lot of work for dance schools

and i second the suggestion that there should be a dedicated ‘garment decoration’ section – as sublimation has their own

i know there are a lot on here that use heat press film
