I have a demo of vinyl master pro, and I am trying to set my Gerber 4b up to it. I have a lmk module, aka gds interface card. On flexisign it shows up as lmk interface, but on master pro there isn’t that option. The help menu says that old models of Gerber like the 4b need a cad-link fast board. Does anyone know if this is the same as the lmk module I have or is there another driver or patch needed to setup.

Any help would be appreciated. I like the setup of vinyl master pro and would like to get my cutter working so I can purchase the full program.

    Cheers Mark :lol1:

I too have a demo version of VMP.
I would like to try demo’s of Flexisign or ArtCut but I have not found any try before you buy copies on the net.

With VMP though, have you been into the spooler, clicked on the picture of the blue plotter at the top right and then clicked on the red toolbox?

I’m sure you have but had to ask.
    regards

Thanks for yor reply, but I don’t have the gerber anymore. The layout of VMP is great, but what a pain in the backside to install your plotter. At least with flexi it only takes a couple of clicks.

    Cheers anyway

thing is mate, “no disrepect as i had one many years back too” the 4b is such an old machine the new software compaines dont run drivers etc to accept these older machines. its a bit like the new mercedez being able to run with an engine from a 20 year old mercs engine. some things just dont shake hands when the key is turned.
well thats my excuse anyway 😕 :lol1: :lol1:

We bought vinymaster pro- it seemed so good at the time (some decent clipart as well) and was quite cheap. But it doesn’t even compare with FlexiSign and SignLab. We use Flexisign for all the vinyl cutting now because the wondrous ‘production manager’ allows me to cut from my PC over the LAN.

just my 2p as they say

    Hi Guys
Iv’e been using Vinyl Master for more than 5 years (it was written in OZ, dont be fooled by the American accent on the turorials, that was done on purpose). I believe that the program is 2nd to none. It takes a little to get your head around, but the main advantages are:

    1. the tutes are brilliant.
2 The clip-art is all good.
    3. You actually get the best plot program, as you can make any changes after sending the design to the cutfile. This is a huge advantage ‘cos you don’t have to alter the original artwork file. You also get many choices once you send to the spooler too.

It imports and exports to Corel very well (watch those ai’s though) you might need to re-weld broken obejcts. The single best thing about the program has to be the vectorising. As long as you don’t try to send anything too complex. Its brilliant. All this and a quote manger too. I personally don’t think that there is anything to touch it. especially for the price. Signlab – if you have $3000 to spend, and like to look at a 16 bit colour pallette!! Like I said, it takes a little getting used to. But it’s very worthwhile.

Oh yeah…. once you have paid for a version you can cut over the netrwork, by using the demo to design in and the working version to cut with. If you want the freedom to import into any computer though, you’ll have to buy more working copies. But I run demos on two computer and have one working version conected to the plotter. I can even take my laptop out to a customer with the demo version on and save the file that I created at their place then bring it back and access it over the network and cut the file form the working version. The manufacturer is quite happy about this too.
Does Flexi or Signlab really match up, I doubt it dollar for dollar.

In case you are wondering, I’ve done about 1/2 million in sales on it in 5 years. Not bad for $499.00

Oh one of it’s faults is once you go over a 21 meter facia you do get error messages, you can work around this though.

    Hi Alan

In Australia, Vinyl Master Pro is still $499, in the UK it’s 499 pounds. This is obviously a large discrepency. If you want a copy I can get one for the Aus price. But you’ll have no support. Alternatively, I just spoke to the owner of Vinyl Master (Shaun Morrell). If you email me @ signs@upnaway.com, then I’ll give you his email address and he’ll arrange a discounted price for you through the UK distributor, and this way you’ll get support. But it has to be done through him.
I am not making anything, you will only get this ‘cos I told him you’re a “mate”.

    So mate – upto you.

    regards
