  • Vinyl creased with bubbles after rolled up and transported

    Hey guys

    just a quick question…

I’ve had some printed vinyl delivered and it’s got bubbles / creases etc in-between the vinyl and backing paper.

Not so much of an issue when fitting it, but the issue i’m having is putting it on my cutter. I’ve lined it up correctly and the registration marks lined up and cut like normal but due to he bubbles/creases it’s not cut it properly.

I tried pushing out the bubbles beforehand but the reappeared and when i unrolled it it wasn’t rolled up great.

I’ve managed to get some stuff ok, but some of the more detailed stuff needs to be re done again.

What are your thought’s on this, is this normal after being transported?

Daniel, problems like this normally arise when the vinyl has been rolled to tightly when packaged or if rolled the wrong way, really down to who ever sent it to you to sort out.
I have had problems on occasions with certain films like reflective, holographic, polyester films but never with normal vinyl. Don’t know how big these are or if it would work with normal vinyl but with the films I have had trouble with I have found laying them on the bench & lifting them from the backing paper & then laying them back on the backing paper, squeegeeing them as I went got rid on all the darts that had formed.

    Again thanks Martin.

I suspected it was too tight, i’ve now emailed them to let them know.

As Martin says – rolled too tight then it lifts once relaxed or rolled inside out.

Either way I’m forever whinging at one of our boys for doing both…a little bit dies inside of me each time I remind him as he’s got the memory of a lobotomised goldfish…
