Na mate, I had two suppliers ring this week and want me to visit their stands, but with going to the UK in a few weeks, I need all the spare cash I can muster. 😕
It has the makings of a good show from what I’ve been told…. I think some of the suppliers are really hoping that the sales happen though…. a fair bit of money has been invested, with the commitments being given before the GFC… I’d be interested if the crowds are as good as they are hoping.

Not for us this time, Jason
We are going oversea later this year and have to save up.
Have fun. -
Hi Heng
hopefully you are more obliging than that Shane Drew fella. I am looking for a position as a bag carrier or general brown nose, for your overseas trip, hopefully I have given you enough time to save the extra money that may be needed for me. Shane just couldn’t afford me, his wife would have injured him had he taken me.
Many thanks your new friend

😀 Michael, would love to have you as bag carrier!
Looks like I have to look out for $0 airfare from Air Asia now. -

Hey guys,
Just got back from the Melbourne show. In comparison the Gold Coast show was bigger and busier. We were there for about 2 hours. Not sure how many equipment deals got done but Warrick was busy. None of the vinyl manufacturers were present besides for 3M.
The main guys were probably GBC, Conect, HMH, GJS, SAS. There were a few heat press garment suppliers and project engraving bizwize etc.
It was only a 10 minute drive for us so well worth the journey.
Warrick has nearly talked me into the platinum package well make that talked Jamie into it lol.

lol! looks like we have to organise a tour group then 😉
Hey Jason, thanks for update on Melbourne show. So did you get the platinum package or not? what is in it?

I got one Heng, next time you are over my way I’ll run you thru it. The basic difference is that you no longer need a table to laminate. You can laminate roll to roll now.

I flew down from Bisbane to the show and I must say how disapointing it was. Very small hall, very few suppliers and practically no machinery on display. Roland had 2 printers on their stand and the reps were not all that helpful. I walked around the whole show in 20mins and spent 1.5 hours there overall just chatting with multicam etc. It was more of a social excercise than a proper sign show. I will look forward to going to a much bigger one next time. 🙁 🙁

Hey James, I heard a few years ago that they would never do another Melbourne show because the suppliers didn’t get behind the last one.
From what I have heard, they decided to do Melbourne again after the success of the last Gold Coast exhibition.
I know Oracal was not represented at the Sydney show either because they couldn’t justify the expense.
Be interesting to see how the market goes I guess, in the present economic downturn.

Hi Jason, I flew down on the friday around lunchtime, went to the show, had nice greek food later that evening and flew back to brisbane at 5am the next morning. Best part of it all was the food 😀

Just bumping this again. Pacprint is next week anyone coming down or going from Melb?
-
I would love to go to Pacprint as I am a Litho printer by trade and used to go to Ipex and Drupa but workload does not permit me flying at this moment unfortunetly 🙁
-
I’d love to go to be honest, but not game to leave the office until I get on top of my backlog. 😥

If there is anything you guys want extra info on just let me know and I’ll fetch it. I’m only about 15-20 mins from the exhibition centre not in peak hour traffic so might go on multiple days.
