    Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has tried out Kemica brand digital vinyls, in particular their "Cast Killer" 60mic polymeric (EA)
& preferably when printing with Latex but general views on handling etc.

    Hi Myles

Have to admit i have never heard of Kemica till i read your post mate.
That goes for nothing of course, but i would imagine for a brand like this to be in the industry so long, I would have thought I would have at least heard of it.
Anyway, calling your brand Calendered vinyl "Cast Killer" is bit ambitious and a little miss-leading.

    A quick search tells us…

    Kemica – kemica.de
Although now part of the POLI-TAPE Group, ever since it was founded in 1974, KEMICA S.p.a. has been an internationally successful supplier of sign & digital products and industrial adhesive tapes. The product range extends from Vinyl’s for Digital Printing, Sign Vinyls and Application Tapes to Over-laminating Films These products optimally complement the POLI-TAPE Group’s existing activities, generate additional synergies and round off the product portfolio.

Hi rob, thanks for the reply. Yes I did as much googling of it as I could & likewise only really found the same info. The supplier in Ireland has only recently taken on the brand but obviously are trying to push it. Price seems reasonable for a supposedly premium polymeric, but still, I didn’t really want to take a punt purely based on suppliers bumpy as they’ll understandably always be biased. So seeking end user views is a far safer option. The response here is somewhat putting me off & the fact you’ve never even heard of them kind of seals it for me!! [emoji16] [emoji106].

I’ve been using the avery 2800 series as a low cost polymeric & really wanted to upgrade to smoothing a bit longer term premium. Various suppliers here all pushing different branded & non branded & I’m torn which to go with. Ideally I’d like to pick one & stick with it.
I’m tempted by avery 2000 HOP series but a bit pricey compared to LG hausey & Papergraphics do their own brand which I think I’ve heard on here is good. Another supplier here is pushing ritramama, so I’m quite confused which way to go & don’t really want to try out every brand.
It obviously also needs to be compatible with my HP L26500.

We have been trying various polymerics as we were buying avery.

So far, although we are solvent so perhaps not relevant.

Grafityp- £360 I’ll never spend again. Avoid

Truviso version. Nice to print. Lovely laminate finish. Great to work with. But.. when I lam then cut I am having some backing paper lift issues. Totally my fault, needs a bit of tweaking machine wise and blade length, but everything else cuts so well am reluctant to find the time to change it at the moment. That said I might do over the winter months as price wise it’s a good bundle and Sam is always really helpful.

DGcal- this weeks tester roll. So far so good. Actually had some of there clear vinyl not so long ago that was really easy to apply to windows. It didn’t seem like it wanted to crease or bubble and I could be pretty rough with it. In fact someone who has never worked with vinyl before could have put it on fairly well.

That’s as far as I have got but am sure there will be more. I can’t talk for the life span of these products but am trusting the suppliers with the normal 5-7 years, however will be a bit less when printed.

Odd I just heard the name Kemica for the first time last week while quoting for frosting on a new medical centre in town.
We are quoting 3M Frosted Crystal. The competition is quoting Kemica.
I wonder who will get the job?

Just cos it’s new & unheard of doesn’t necessarily mean it’s inferior Simon! 3M was new & unknown once!!

I’ve also never heard to them. I have however heard of poli-tape. I’m also based in Ireland, a well known supplier done us a deal on 2 rolls of their backing up tape to try. Both rolls, one new and unused ended up in the skip! Hopefully their vinyls better but from past experience with their tape I’d be cautious to try it 🙁

Thanks for that David, I suspect it’s probably the same supplier 😉 , I’ve never used Poli-tape but was aware of it so knew at least Kemica wasn’t just a brand new company with no background! Always preferred the 3M Conform tape myself tbh.
It’s not looking good for Kemica at the moment & if no one has ever heard of it I guess it’s going to be hard enough to get any decent unbiased user reviews on it & obviously long term only time will tell. I think I may hold off for now & try something a bit more mainstream.

p.s. Hope you’re enjoying this spell of incredibly UN-Irish weather we’re having David!!!

Ahh Jeez, what do you expect!!! A caravan  !!

I might have been mistaken about the supplier earlier unless you buy from the south? I can’t imagine why you would though, I’m increasingly finding it cheaper to buy from the UK even when taking shipping into account.

We buy quite a lot from s&d in Dublin. Whilst definitely not the cheapest we’ve found them to be great at what they do, always there on the end of the phone with good honest advice, world class engineers. Wasn’t them who sold us the dodgy app tape though.
