  • versaworks PDF problems….anyone got any ideas?

    Hi All,

I am doing a trade job for an ad agency ( 8’x3′ banners).

They’ve sent artwork as a pdf as requested, which opens up fine in acrobat reader so everything looks fine, but when I put it into versaworks the banner is a small speck in the middle of a white page which is 5000mm x 5000mm.
I can’t convert the pdf with corel x3 either so am at a bit of a loose end!

Anyone got any ideas before I call the client…..

    Cheers
    Joe

You could maybe clip it in versaworks and only print the panel you want? or maybe import into corel and re-export as pdf?

edit: oops didn’t read your whole post!

Joe, do you have full acrobat? if so save as eps and try that in the RIP or print to Acrobat to remake the pdf.
If you do not have full Acrobat download cutepdf (Free) and print to that.
Whichever way you go I would do a test print to ensure colour models don’t swap and that there are no font issues.

Very useful Joe, using a printing method for producing pdf enables all the print features of programmes so in Corel you can step and repeat, separate, imposition and add all marks.
You can also embed the fonts but for those nervous about embedding fonts goto the postscript tab and deselect the download type 1 fonts and the convert true type tp Type 1 selection, all text will be automatically converted to curves on printing. This would be a good workflow for print jobs going out to others
Not all the free pdf makers retain colour models but Cute seems to do a good job.
    Glad you’re fixed anyway Joe.

Import into what? if you mean into Corel what is the problem and how often do you experience it.
