    Hi Chris
Versaworks can be a pain sometimes, go to Start> Programs> Roland> Versaworks> Initialize & see if that helps. If not you will have to uninstall, i always make sure it doesn’t leave any folders in the C drive Program folder & then reinstall. Problems are known of VW freezing & i believe you can get a Registry fix for it but doesn’t sound like your problem. Let us know how you get on with the printer & your opinion of it.

Chris, sounds like the processor or RAM can’t handle the program. Id your sons PC up to spec? Also have you run all the updates on the program install? Is the graphic card good enough to run it (graphic cards have memory too) check the minimum system requirements on versaworks first and match against the pc (give me a shout if you need help) you can check your pc spec by right clicking on my computer and going to properties…. (sorry if I’m teaching you to suck eggs)… One thing that might mean the difference is Service Pack 3 on the pc, I know that SP3 had a few bugs in it, most people reverted to SP2

(have to tried a good old fashioned re boot?)

Thanks Kevin done what you thought inc reinstall after clearing it off as the manual describes. Went on the other computer clean first time.
Sons computer is on the network and ok i changed the ip address in case clashing still no go.

Vw is still alien to me but slowly learning. The printer works fine so far i hate the roll holders and the media clamps.

well after many hours of mucking about found the problem to be a virus that was eating away at the processor time.
that computer has never been near the internet so can only presume it arrived on a customers memory stick.
seam to remember somebody on here the other month having a problem, so have to say that all sticks from customers will now be scanned first or email only.

i tried a couple of virus programs that said all was well then tried superantispyware which found and zapped it in double quick time well impressed that i will buy the full version.

Beware, some anti virus programs take up an awful lot of processor and ram power, go for one with a low footprint, ESET NOD32 is good, been using it for years, reasonable price too.

Glad you sorted it Chris, I was on the right track lol
