Versacamm Wanted / Required
Posted by simonbowles on April 28, 2009 at 6:59 pmHi all,
I run a small graphic design agency in Hemel Hempstead which also provides printing services; however, we now have enough enquiries to warrant purchasing our own Vinyl printer and therefore I am wondering if anyone can recommend somewhere where I can purchase a 2nd hand or refurbished VersaCamm? You might have one yourself that you are looking to sell?
Thanks in advance.

Sorry Graeme, I honestly didn’t intend it to be that way. I am very serious about looking for a 2nd hand or refurbished unit.

Hi,
I was in the same position as you and i have finally bought a sp540 2nd user but the deal i got was amazing, basially i got the machine for half price.
read my post…wanting to buy a versacamm
u need to ring lettering systems in durham http://www.lsu.co.uk and speak to simon, tell him Ali recomended him and he will look after you.
i know i will definately use them again in the future.

Hi Simon
May I suggest you look around for a Uniform Machine that is a converted Versacamm. Roland will come out replace the heads and everything touched by ink and warrant for a year we paid £900 and got virtually a brand new machine.
The only problem is that secondhand machines are fetching silly money because of the pound against the yen. 3 year old sp300’s are bringing £6500 through dealers _ the same price you could get them new for 12 months ago.
the equilavent tweaked machine the VP300 is bringing £11,500 with very little margin to haggle.
suggest you look at a well used uniform ring roland before you buy and get a refurb. i have got a fully warranted sp300 running like near new for a total spend of £3,900 with full parts and labour 12 month warranty.
please feel free to email me back if you see anything you want any advice on?

This is my first machine, originally i was going to go for a brand new vp540 but with the £2000 price increase i thought id leave it a i dont have any experience with printers anyway, However i managed to get a 2nd user sp540 with the full roland conversion and 1 year parts and labour warrenty and also a service after 8 months.
The roland engineer came and stripped the machine apart then cleaned it all up and replaced with new parts, even the old (blue) uniform cover was removed and installed with the original roland white cover.
They even sent me a certificate and a couple of roland coffee mugs and coffee etc lol.
Total cost to me was £6000 +vat for the sp540 with full roland conversion, warrenty, etc.
So overall i think i got a good deal and im happy with it.

Hi Ali
its great that we are both virgins with this piece of converted kit, do you have a take up system
1. if so any tips for using it on big jobs?
2. how do you find versaworks on PDFS i find it rubbish?
but i still agree once you get your head around these 2 small glitches, its a hell of a lot of kit for very little money.

I dont have a take up system but dont think i really need it as i allways keep an eye on the machine while printing, i have however ordered a electric laminator.
versaworks is ok but i think i will upgrade to signlab 8 as it has versaworks built in making life much easier.
where did you buy ur machine from?
