Posted by Cheryl Smith on October 21, 2013 at 8:33 amHi everyone…hope you are all well…
I keep having bother with the cut files on versa works.
we are showing the cut contour in versaworks but the versacamm keeps leaving chunks left uncut…like part of an oval or straight line…
anyone have any solutions to this at all…
many thanks

Hi cheryl
have a look at your page in wireframe mode
their may be something on the page which is blocking it
had this before when exporting from signlabDerek
-
no nothing showing there Derek…all artwork seems to be pretty clean when exported to eps ..the cut contour line shows on the works ..but does not translate to the cutter..this happens in both print/cut mode and cut only jobs.
-
happened befor once i a while
bring the cut path to the front of the graphic some times fades or layers block part of it. if layers are they switched on to print. -
I still dont get it…the last oval and square I sent to cut…was just an outline drawn in corel…no colour no outline but the cut one exported in eps…missed out a whole long line on the box which I had to hand cut afterward…nothing complicated in the slightest.
-
the line missed was it at the top begining or the right side as you look at the machine
-
things that can make a edge cutine not cut is eps border set to 0 can be set in VW or eps output.
or eps page size to small if not sent as selection only -
right…i will try figure out what that means Chris, thank you.

If I remember rightly it could be to do with the EPS Margin setting, it’s something like Versaworks sometimes doesn’t pick up the cut line on the very edge of the image so a margin needs setting so it looks beyond image.
(or something like that – I remember with was feedback from Roland and after I set it I had no other problem)
It can be found under "File Format" in Queue settings or Job Settings I think mind was set to 0.1mm

That was my initial thought. We have ours set to 1mm

i used to have this, missing parts of a cut so i then made a border in a colour or white around the whole of the cut maybe 5mm longer and 5mm higher so then the cut lines are inside the whole job and it cuts everything.
i have never had this problem since -
thank you everyone…I will have a go at doing that
😀

Hi all,
Missing elements on the edge of files such as cutlines could well be down to the EPS margin as mentioned earlier in this post. As Nick said you can set this in the Queue settings, as a default it is set to 0. Where you have cut data with a stroke weight (even if it is minimal such as 0.25pt) on the edge of a file, the EPS file format may miss it when ‘looking along it’s border’.
You can add an EPS margin as a default, so that VersaWorks will always look just outside of the file edge to ensure it captures all of the information.
The margin will need to be 0.35mm or higher in order for it to definitely get the info. Be aware that this will then add 0.35mm to each edge of your file, if you are working to tight tolerances.Hope that helps!?

still having the same problem on this…whether on just cut or cut and print…missing parts of the cut line. shows in corel when exported as an eps but missing lines when imported into versa works…really puzzled tho tried everything mentioned here about the eps margin…
if anyone has any clues id be really grateful… -
Cheryl,
I have this problem when I send a job from Flexi to VersaWorks. (Does not happen with Illustrator)
The solution I have found is to have a white panel slightly larger than the cut line, select it all and then send / print to VersaWorks or however you get your jobs into VersaWorks. When there is a larger white image than the cut lines, it always works fine for me.
