  • Versacamm problem after upgrading to Max3 inks

Posted by MickRose on November 15, 2016 at 10:57 am

Hello – I’ve recently upgraded to EcoSol Max3 inks and the drying time is much improved. But I have a problem with the yellow head. I have attached a scan, recoloured to see it better. I’ve tried manual cleaning, machine cleaning and it makes no difference. The machine is well out of warranty. I’m trying to have Roland input (they did the changeover) but I’m not sure I’m getting anywhere with them. The yellow print tests before the change over was okay and I’m pretty sure it was okay immediately after.

    Any ideas?

How long since it was done? When you change over to the eco sol max 3 inks, that weekly clean we do needs to be done daily. When was it last serviced? What printer is it?

The spi versa Camm has problems with the max 3 ink I had 4 heads changed under warranty before they converted me back to ecosol max

A Roland engineer has come and changed the yellow print head. Because the Eco-sol Max3 upgrade was done recently by them there was no charge. Thats a pretty good service.

Adam – what happened with your machine? Are you saying the new heads didn’t work properly with the new ink or was it the older heads which went? I’ve been advised to do a test print every day which will clean them. As well as a weekly manual clean.

the new yellow head had to be replaced every 4-6 weeks as the same problem kept happening. Apparently only happens on the 2 head machines, had mind done 3 or 4 times under the maintenance agreement i have with roland and in the end they converted me back to the original ones

Sounds like I should take out a maintenance contract with Roland

Adam did reverting back to the old inks work for your machine? I have had my sp-540i now 6 months , with 2 new heads, 2 engineer visits but they still can’t resolve the quality issues, so thought reverting back to the old inks might be my last option!
