  • Versacamm drying issues on Satin poster paper?

    Hi Guys

I am printing on to Metamark satin poster paper and even with the head and dryer heater on full it is not drying and sticking together on the take up roller. What else can I do to get it to dry? Different profile or can I slow the machine down or something?

    cheers

I print quite a few posters and always leave them air dry. The black takes ages to dry. Luckily I have screen printing racks to lay them on.
Would never consider a take up roll for them.

When I had my Uniform printer i had this problem, i found the best way to solve it was to up the pass rate to max it will go this is a pain because it slow the print down but should allow it to dry before going on to takeup.

Also helps if you have a heater you can put in front of it or maybe try a profile with a lesser ink limit ie 260 not 300

    Kind regards

    Russell.

Thanks guys I’ll try that. These prints are 1800mm long so need to use the take up unfortunately, it is just the black causing issues too.

    Thanks again

We use the MDPP regularly and find that if we use the MD5 profile with both heater settings up to 40 it is fine to put it on take up rollers every with full coverage.

if not in a rush my rip lets me put a delay in on every pass.
if in a rush fan heater.
some papers are faster drying than others ask your suppliers. and as you say the black is the problem then ink level and profile may need changing

We’ve had to change papers lots to find one we are happy with, some high gloss ones dry quick but I never like the look, now use one from spandex that drys well and is also more what people expect from ‘poster paper’.

must say, i have switched to spandex blueback due to print stick as well! It seems to be much better!
