Hi people, were almost there!!! But while I’m sitting around eating too many mince pies and sipping the very occasional glass of red, should I be worrying about my versacamm (sp540) or just my ever expanding waist line?

I’m going to do a full manual clean this week before packing up and then am not due back in till the 7th. Although I will be round a bit cause we are building a compound and redoing some benches during the hols. Should I run the machine while I’m in or is 2 weeks of doing nowt acceptable?

    Thanks for any advise.

If it was me i would do a small print every 3 days or so definitely not just leave it for 2 weeks 😮

According to the Roland engineer who came to see me recently just leave it plugged in and turned on and forget it. The machine will do its own clean and maintenance cycle.
I used to turn mine off each day but I now leave it on all the time so that it doesn’t go through an unnecessary cleaning each time I turn on.
Although it sounded like a bit of a sales line, a sales manager at Roland told me that they had heard of a machine that had been turned off for a couple of months and started up and ran without problem, he did qualify it by adding that it had been well maintained prior to the switch off.

Last xmas we left ours for almost 2 weeks and left it turned on. Came back in the new year and it was as if we had never been away.

Will be doing the same again this year and hope the same happens.

    Cheers

thats very interesting, so do you leave it in sleep mode or not ?

coz our CJ-500 in sleep mode doesnt do any cleaning…

the sp540v will turn on every 12 hours to do a clean. make sure its plugged in and got power and work on expanding that waist line.

Was also told this by the Roland tech that the SP300 does the same cleaning, leave it plugged in with the power on the socket on, but the printer turned off, and it will wake itself up and do a clean as needed.

I was a bit concerned about how much ink it would use, as its wasted, but he told me it is only a tiny amount.

Saying all this, mine will be used every few days as normal over Xmas, would be nice to not have the work coming in to have a fortnight off !

    Hi,
mine is sometimes not run for 2-3 weeks.

It starts up and prints perfectly each time.

It powers itself up now and then and does a little clean.

    Its great ! 🙂

Thanks for the info. Seen as I’m going to be about a bit during the hols I might as well run it, but nice to hear that the general consensus is that I don’t need to stress about it.
