Received a roll of velcro today .Cant say ive vast experience of the stuff ,as my dressmaking skills leave a lot to be desired :lol1: spent ages trying to get it to stick only to find out from my wife that another roll of the stuff was needed …..the fuzzy felt type …i had the hook type …..pity the company that sold it didnt say 😳 😳 😳 .perhaps they thought i had common sense .Its weird cos nik said in one of my posts (when i was enquiring about my exhibition signs ) that id need two rolls ….thought it was a lot of velcro needed for a small sign .. 😳 hmm sorry Nik i see what you ment 😳

i use the Velcro rolls now and again, yes, you need both rolls :lol1:
not sure where you bought yours Brian but i am sure we get ours from europoint. comes in black and white.

i remember a while back getting some samples of 3M type hook and loop type Velcro fastening system. this stuff was amazing. i swear you could hold 10×4 sheet of dibond up with it solid. then peel it back off and replace with a new sheet. they had various grades/types. must look into that again…

Weebles also hurt like (hot) if you dropped them on your toes…..but not nearly as bad as standing on chunky lego…..oh, just thinking about it makes me wince!

(cough) My wee sister even had a "non-P.C. racially stereotypical / derogatory, marmalade icon doll" aka golliwog…obviously called Golly. Oh, the racist little tyke!

Hey! I may be a young ‘un 😮 But I do remeber being bought a chopper by some relatives when I was about 5 and it was about 5 times too big for me….. idiots!

I was more into bikes during the ‘Grifter’ era, 60lbs of mild steel, Sturmly Archer blister inducing twist gears and ineffective brakes….wonderful.

    Just noticed this site: http://www.doyouremember.co.uk/forums/index.php?

I’ve ridden an original Chopper (Mk I) a few years back- not for the feint hearted. Twitchy steering – with hands waaay up in the air, achingly painful lump of vinyl covered foam ‘banana’ seat, the "I’m converting to castrati" gear stick, placed conveniently mid crotch for when the brakes /steering fails to be used effectively. Health & saftey nightmare – beautiful 70’s styling.

You’re right – the new ones are pathetic…far too bland!

Why would they sell one without the other ?

My wife makes curtains for a living and a fair amount of the time the material she uses is fuzzy anyway. Therefore she buys a lot more of the hooky part of velcro than she does the fuzzy.

    Just going off topic again…….

Does anybody remember crackerjack….not the programme….it was a kind of popcorn in a box with a totally useless toy that you couldn’t wait to play with.

I’ve just remembered golden nugget bubbly that got so hard after about two minutes you had to spit it out….& bazooka Joe bubbly with the little cartoon strip….ahh the memories 😛

    Hi All,
When we were kids my brother got a mk1 chopper for christmas, I was too small so I got a chipper. It was similar to a chopper but smaller. Grew up a bit then had a mk2 or mk3 chopper, It was the one with the squared of chome bit at the back. Grifter after that with no brakes and stuck in 3rd gear with jubilee clip(second hand-swapped for an action man with tank). Raleigh arena racer bought for christmas, stole on boxing day then a raleigh medal racer.

Got a Vectra Estate now :lol1:

Was the tomahawk the one with fixed wheel or pedal backwards to apply the brakes. They were death traps. I think that the chipper was only made at the same time as mk1 chopper, it wasn’t that successful and it could be that it changed into the tomahawk. My chipper was bright yellow and my bros. chopper was a burned orange, wicked colours.

    Cheers John

mmmJohn i always thought there was only the chopper "the big boy on the block" and all the others were the poor mans versions …like for those of us that the parents couldnt afford the chopper .I remmember two boys at our school…brothers that turned up with a blue one and a red one 😥 😥 …John that has affected methroughout my life 😀 😀 😀 :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:

Not that I did…but loads of ‘bigger boys’ put playing cards or beer mats in the spokes to either make either a ‘clacking’ sound or a ‘whooooo’ when riding. Sad, tacky, but reminiscent of the times…and you couldn’t get away with amusing your kids with that these days. You just don’t see quality ‘tat’ on the streets these days, just fake burburry clad Chav(ette)s showing us their bling & uninsured Novas.

Is it me, or does everybody over 30 turn into a grumpy old fart when popular culture seems idiotic? :lol1:

What! I can’t say F.A.R.T….what about that supplier of neon transformers?

Here at the hardware store where I work, we sell velcro already stuck together…
both halves of a whole you might say, $1.99 a yard.
Selling the halves seperately is rather sneaky if you ask me.
Our fabric stores also sell it pre-assembled.
Just peel off the sticky back & go.

Now as for fuzzy felt, I think I have a story about it that can beat all of yours.
Besides having cut-out Saint stories in Catholic school,
    (very boring)
We also had it in Sex Ed class when I was about 12.
The teacher warned that anyone who snickered or giggled would get a detention or worse.
She was a mannish old snip, and we all hated her.
She was the other half of a married gym/health teacher pair.
The object in question on the fuzzy felt board was the side view of an unaroused man.
She proceeded to move a strategic felt shape and voila!
    He was standing at attention.
Everyone in the classroom was biting the insides of their cheeks to keep from guffawing.
Our eyes watered, but nobody laughed out loud.
We all were wondering if she traced her hubby’s member on the flesh-colored felt to use as a teaching aid.
    I’ll never forget it.
    Love….Jill

Our sex ed class was the real deal Jill when I was about 10 years old.

All the boys had to bring their Dads on one night, and all the girls with their mums on the next night.

We had to sit there in the auditorium and watch movies on the ‘act of procreation’ and the resultant babies that followed.

I remember I was bored silly, coz a mates dad had just got a new car and me and my mates were wanting it to be over so we could get to the car park and check it out.

The girls were never the same after that tho. They had this attitude that they had something that we would want some time in the future, and really played on it.

My best friends dad, Mr Mortenson, told me that the girls were practising to be wives, and we should get used to it.

Smart man that Mr Mortenson 😉

Fuzzy felt sex education …. that’s brilliant!!!

My 12 year old got sex education 3 weeks ago. She came home and told me about it. She said it was disgusting……. her words…. ‘ mens bits… they’re gross’ Then proceeded to show me by using her arm what happens to them when aroused using the sounds ‘woooop… yuck’ :lol1: :lol1: Then the worst part was watching a film of a woman giving birth, she said ‘ it was blue and looked like an alien (at which point her dad told her that’s why we called her Emily, her initials are ET!!! 😀 ) but the thing about the film that was really horrible she said was the fact that it was made about 15 – 20 years ago … she said they all had really bad haircuts!!!!!! :lol1:
