Sort of as the title but really wanting to know if there are any special tools in the way of squeegees etc that people who do colour change wraps use to help with installation, reason for me asking is because I have real problems with some corners, the ones at the hinge side of doors, corners of wings, in fact anywhere there isn’t much space to get in behind the corner.

I’ve seen all kinds of wonderfully shaped squeegees but never sure if things like this are just a gimmick or if they are really useful.

I normally just use the normal 3m gold squeegee and the 3m blue squeegee, they normally do the trick,

but i havent seen anything made specially for these kind of corners

    Hi Martin

I don’t do any wrapping but I did see pages of squeegees in the Signgeer (Jag) catalogue. Might be worth a look.

Ghais, a lot of signmakers will tell you that the 3m gold is the best squeegee you can get & I wouldn’t argue with them, have a few myself for general signwork BUT personally I have been really disappointed with felt edge version, just doesn’t seem to stand up well against other 3m products, the blade has come through the felt on everyone I have tried in a very short time. The avery squeegees felt edge squeegees seem to be much better.

Chris & Chris, thanks but I already know about the wide range of different shaped squeegees available what I really would like to know is peoples first hand experiences using any of them, do they actually help or is it just a gimmick as with a lot of other stuff.

Paul’s site does have pretty good explanations for their uses but it’s obviously just sales patter lol

I really like these from solar http://www.solarsignsupplies.com/magnetic-squeegee/
The felt fairly thick and doesn’t wear out, also their magnetic which is a massive bonus when your on large panels, I also use the standard 3m gold with the low friction sleeves, like Martin said the felt on the 3m is not the best,

So what’s the attraction of magnetic squeegee’s Robert, is it simply because they stick to the side of the vehicle? I wear cargo trousers & one of the pockets does me fine for squeegee’s.

I tried the 3m low friction sleeves, years ago now so don’t know if they have changed at all but at the time I found they still marked the vinyl so stopped using them. Do you find you have to be careful what type & colour vinyl you use them for?

HI Martin, i have plenty of pockets 🙂
I do a lot of wagon Cabs and when you up steps with a heat gun in one hand and vinyl in the other i find it easier to have my squeegee inches away.
could just be my personal preference.

but they are good squeegee’s nice thick felt on them, if you give Jasper a call at solar he probably will send you a freebie, that’s what got me hooked

I use the suede squeegee wings a lot on 3m gold now as the felts don’t last 5 minutes.

Robert if I’m up a ladder with a heat gun in one hand & vinyl in the other the squeegee is between my teeth lol

Chris, is that the suede squeegee wings that Paul has in his online shop? If it is I saw those & wondered what they were for or if they were for a particular brand of squeegee.

they are super sticky and go well with 3m gold. Worth a try.

Sometimes with the felt squeegee I spray with rapid tac, it makes them last longer and give some glide to the application
