  • Vehicle Wrapper sub-contracting terms and conditions?

Posted by Mark Johnston on December 2, 2021 at 7:12 am

We took on a job to part wrap and partly cut vinyl on several vans.
Not being experienced enough to do the job we decided to use a subby vehicle wrapper who has lots of experience.
the problem is one of the vans is failing and he is taking forever to respond to us asking him to inspect it to see what he can do? it is now looking bad for us because the customer just wants it fixed, as do we!
he has already been paid in full and from where we stand, we think he should fix it free of charge. but do we have a leg to stand on if he ignores our calls/emails?

i have had the same problem “twice” and with different wrappers.
i don’t think it just comes down to experience. i think you have to find one that actually cares about his work.
after the second guy did not return to fix his error, i no longer sub anything out. it just isn’t worth the hassle and bad reputation you get because of it.

Closing the stable door, once the horse has bolted springs to mind.

What terms were agreed with the sub contractor?

You cannot try and retrospectively introduce terms, and I can see this resulting in a blame game, was it the installer? The material? The customer? You?

Chalk it up to experience, and get someone else to repair it. Get the terms in place that covers such eventualities before appointing them.
