This is our first body wrap i did it all from design to installation. It started as a white scion. It was done using a sp300 with 3m wrap material and the oragaurd clear laminate. It was hard to do a full body wrap instead of a partial my first time but i got through it and it looks pretty good in person.

Looks good. Big job for you first wrap.

I’m not so keen on the vehicle though, looks just like something off a cartoon.

Thanks everyone. It was a big job for the first i agree. I did all of the layout and designing that was tricky for my first time also. I’m just glad it is done.

What program did you use for design? Did you use a Vehicle outline for layout?
Did you Come up with the concept, or did the customer have graphics…. etc.?
Did you print the graphics in house? How long did it take for everything?

Just curious.. I’m working my way towards wrapping, and soaking in all the advice I can get.
I do full color design for ads and Business cards now…. I use corel for that, but am upgrading to Flexi pro soon.

    Thanks

While it seems that you did an excellent job on the wrap
    (I commend you!!!!)
The layout seems a tad busy and lacking in contrast.
Not trying to sound like a smartass,
I just think the main copy needed better priority
and possibly should have been done in white rather than red.
Other than that, ya did good.
    Love….Jill

nice one, so this is what a scion looks like, not seen one in the uk but certainly wouldn’t look too out of place.

The wrap is good, not sure about the two a4 looking pictures on the front but the rest looks right

well done for a first wrap. It would not have been easy either.

Curious why you used oraguard and not the matched component 3M laminate? You would have got the 3M MCS warranty but now if it fails, you are on your own. Just curious.

Thanks again everyone. I dropped it off last night the customer loved it. He called me and said he referred allot of people to us and he only had it for a day. As for the car yes it is the Scion XB they are very small cars but on the inside they are very roomy they are like a lunch box but great to wrap and allot of advertising space for a compact. But as for the questions by Steve.
OK for the designing i used Photo-shop i came up with the whole layout everything except colors he had them all ready. I have Felix 7.5 v5 but Flexi is very slow working with large full color files. I do them in Photoshop and then save them as an RGBmode at 300dpi and a 1/4 of the size so the file isn’t so large. We have all of his files on a external hard drive and with everything even many steps of designing it came out to be 6GB of files and photos. Now as for the concept i came out with that after working back and forth with the owner. All he supplied was about 50 images and the text and colors he wanted their was no layout everything was done by brainstorming with him. This was my first wrap and my first designing of a wrap i don’t use the vehicle outlines because they don’t show dimension like how the rear bumper sets in about 6 inches. With a photo you can see more of the curves. It was tricky doing the layout so the letters wouldn’t go over where the license plate or door handles will go but everything worked out fine. Its hard to say how long because i have been working with this guy for about 3 months now with the designing i told him it would be my first one so i will give you a break but you have to be patient. I did it in many days a few hours a day i know the front bumper was the first piece i did i printed and cut it at 22″ x 75″ because i have the Sp 300 and my laminator is only 24″ but anyways i put that on in one piece. that took me about 1 and 1/2 hours. I don’t mind the questions at all its the best way to learn. I learned allot of things from a lot of you on this site and thanks to everybody. I had the machine about a year now and i have been doing some pretty amazing things with cars but now that i finally got up the nerve to take on a full body wrap and now i have more confidence to do them. I have 3 graphics locations at flea markets in Florida and one on the Jersey Shore in New Jersey. My wife and I have been doing graphics for a while now and by getting the full color machine it opened up an whole new level in graphics for us. I really recommend any graphics person to get one of them the digital magnets you can do and full color banners the t shirts man i can go on.
But anyways Jill thanks and any suggestions or comments are welcome. As for the layout i wanted to do a modern looking background i have all of the Aurora Fills and i wanted to do a wild background with only one house and the letters but he wanted all picture. And the colors that was what he wanted you should see all of the changes he made. But thanks for the compliments everyone again.
Shane thanks and what happened is with the laminate i only went by what my distributor recommended. As for warranty i have never in the 9 years of doing it ever even filed a warranty i just redo it if needed. Its to much paper work this way their is no wait for the customer we very rarely ever have redoes and in each of our stores we stock about 2 24″ full rolls And we do allot of graphics we have 4 locations and a total of about 14 employees. Sorry about the long post but i look on this site allot and it has helped out our business. I don’t post all of the time but i do read allot. And if somebody has a question i will try and answer it.
Thanks again everyone for the help. A lot of You guys gave me the confidence to do the wrap thanks again
    Greg and Alicia

    quote Dave Rowland:

but not in Devon Dave! It would be mistaken for a postman pat van if red or Black a hurst.

Sgraphix – cracking job mate you should be proud. You are right about flexi 7.5, production manager is not so hot at handling the big files.

i want to import a scion, they look so unique.
But i suspect they cost a bit and have a huge capacity engine and cost a fortune to drive

Yes I have Dave. Started back at work on Wednesday. 🙁

sgraphix, design and manufacture apart, how long would you estimate it took you to fit the whole vehicle? I know the first one takes too long and we all get faster with practice, but just curious.

Looks like you have done a good job with the application, now you have your first full wrap under your belt I expect you will be much happier come the next one.
As for the design I agree with Jill that it looks to busy. Obviously this is down to personal choice as a lot of people have said they like it, but to me its to difficult to pick out the company name and contact details with everything else thats going on.
Just my opinion but its no good having an eye catching design if the relevant details are hard to pick out. Bottom line is the customer is over the moon and has already given your name to others.

I would say about a day and a half to install. Yes now i have more confidence when the next job comes in i will be ready and waiting.
In person it doesn’t look as busy the pictures don’t do it justice.
