    Awesome Job Phil!
    I like the design.
I’m Designing My first one for me. I’s going on and Enclosed Trailer, so it may just be the sides.
I can’t come up with a background that I like. My first thought is to use photo images, (because I can). Any design tips for me?

I like Your background.. Clean looking, but not just a fade or fill.

    Looks the dogs Phil!

But…I am not at ease with the wording, i.e.Vehicle Wrapping specialist.
I know, and so do the rest of the board members, but I am not sure if joe public would know what it means. You may get calls from people who want to ship ther cars overseas, and need it parceling up!
Not sure if “wrap” means anything to Bob The Builder yet.
Bloody good work though, especially the continuation round the rear quarter.

    I like it!
You should make some magnetic business cards and put them somewhere on the van so when it’s parked people can get your contact info.

Fresh, Clean, dimensional and Effective design! Fantastic wrapping and fitting!
    PERFECT!

But as Peter said: what’s wrapping … I know of a wrap that is a kind of rolled bread with meat inside … you know what it is and I know what it is, but what about your target?

    Again: Great work!

Brilliant work Phil – well done 😀

Marek – magnetice business cards stuck to the sides of a van – what a great idea. So much so, I think your idea could be marketed as a first rate business opportunity – magnetic business cards left on vehicles for those interested to easily obtain information about the business. Sign makers could target this idea to all companies they deal with.

Leaving fridge magnets on your vehicle is a pretty standard thing here, I am surprised it is such a new idea over there 🙄

Really good looking job tho phil. well done.

I don’t think the term ‘wrapping’ is much of an issue tho. May be enough to prompt people to ask what it means which is in itself a good marketing/sales opportunity.

    Cheers

I had the same the other day while designing my leaflets, i used the term Vehicle Livery Specialist and the amount of people that i asked their views on didn’t kow what that meant.

Very nice Wrap btw how long did it take and how many of you etc?

I agree that some people might not know what a “wrap” is, but with a vehicle fully wrapped in front of them they might figure it out. Probably not though.

yeah.. back to the business card thing.. if we put a load of magnetic’s business cards on the van and customer drove at 70mph on the motorway, how many would there be left? What I mean, would the small magnetic card area be more likely to fall off at speed?

Just slap them on when you park. Although I imagine kids would just nick them all most of the time.

Phil, I would like to elaborate on my earlier post, if thats ok.
The design and fitting is top notch, no question.
I must say this again though, a sign is primarally to get across information, and in todays world, most of it is to advertise goods and services,..We in the trade tend to look at the quality and originality of the work, and overlook the purpose of the application.
To give a comparison, a carpenter may look at a table or chair, and see how complex the joints are, and how well the curves have been formed
Most. but if the table is to high to eat from, or the chair is unconfortable, its not a good design. Same with signs, no matter how elaborate, and well made, they are useless if they do not convey the message.
I am still uneasy with the term “wrapping specialist”
and I am just trying to explain my reasons.
On the rear of your van you have given prominence to the word “signs” .
But on the side there is little info as to what you can do.

    A few words like
“want your van to be as striking as this?”
would eliminate the need for the word Wrap, which in my opinion means little to the average company, looking to get their vans Signed.
Sorry to waffle, but I have seen many memorable ads over the years,
problem is, I cant remember what most of them were advertising,
How many people will remember which brand Rutger Hauer and Jack Dee advertised.

Most people have trouble knowing the difference between spot colours and gradients fill, without mentioning wrapping.

Please take all this as constructive critism, As said the van looks Ab Fab.

I think the background wrapping is sexcellent, love the way it continues around the back.

My main criticism is the number of different typestyles used, 6 lines of text all in a different font. I usally try to keep to 3 fonts maximum, preffering to vary the font weights to give impact and definition.

Still a very nice job though.

It is a nice job, as others said, a lot of fonts.
Is Apollo white or a gradient fill?
    (I would have preferred white)
The line of copy by the phone # is reallllly hard to read, as is the list of services on the back.
I do like the back layout, that will get you the most advertising
as bored folks in traffic will read it.
I would have tightened up the elements a bit,
and made the wrapping part smaller.
People will eventually know what a wrap is, and if they don’t they’ll ask.
    Then they’ll want one!
    Love….Jill

    Hi folks,
Thanks for all your comments, and I’ll just answer a few of comments/questions.

1 We are fairly well known in the trade for wrapping vehicles nationwide and have been doing this for about 5 years but even when we go to sites now we still get asked “whats a wrap ?” so now we can show them prior to starting

2 Wrapping being the main side of our business we have decided to use the van to promote more local trade in the signage area as we don’t do a great deal of this and our works are really underutilized, so we want local people to ask ” what the f/*/s that all about” .So many vehicles carry the message SIGNS etc that nobody really reads them anymore they just stick with thieir regular suppliers unless they see something unusual and good.

    3 Materials used ; Mactac jt5529 laminated with lf3699

4 We only had “training” in vws (we only went for the accreditation)
everything else we have learned by experience.

5 Apollo is in a gradient fill to match our letterheads etc. and the lines of text that are harder to read ( I prefer More Subtle) are deliberately so. We thought we’d use the overall design as a hook to get people looking and IF they are interested potential customers they will read the rest.

6 Having tried several typefaces we settled on these because
we use the Apollo on our letterheads etc. and the numbers in this font look absolutely sh17 so that was definitely a no-no so we used something to go with the background. Trade services such as SIGNS & VEHICLE WRAPPING we wanted to be loud & prominent as for the specialists well perhaps we could have used something that we’d already used but that’s what hindsight and personal preference is all about eh?

Background looks great. Makes you look twice.
Don’t have a problem with the multiple fonts.
And if you want to be a wrapping specialist then go ahead, knock yourself out. I’m sure those who are interested will ask and once you have them in conversation theres a chance to make a sale. Sort of – you know what I mean. 😉

I like the background image & it looks to be wrapped very well. I agree, it’s good to see the thoughts been there to continue the background image around the back etc. looks great!
I prefer the back of the van to the side. I know its wrapping you’re pushing but I think it’s good to have the words “signs” as it will make Joe public think more about what you’re advertising here, possibley even the word “graphics” if not signs. As I said, I like the back because it does a bit of everything and is better balanced. Im not keen on the heavy text and shadows of phone numbers and vehicle wrapping specialists, though Apollo looks good. just a self prefference that though…
I agree very much with the thoughts on the wording “wrapping” for Joe public, but then again, how do we describe it?
I think the vehicle wrapping text will appeal more to other sign firms more wanting Phil’s services, which is good of course.

How did you find the mactac to work with Phil, and why did you make this choice if KPMF is the media you were trained on mate? Just me being sheer nosey of course…
I really like macfleet wrap vinyl but it’s a very tempramental vinyl to work with… 😀
