Pretty simple design, but the customer loved it.. it’s what they wanted.
I really took my time applying, using sign gold for the first time.

Nice job Steve. Any problems with the gold? Did you apply dry?

    Thanks…
A few problems messing up a letter here and there. and I got bubbles in the patch the first time. Couldn’t get them out and had to re-cut.
I did it mostly dry. Two letters at a time with clear tape and just “eyed it” I did the patches slightly wet therafter. I was told wet is fine, but you need to let it dry for a few hours before you edge seal it. Gold isn’t pourus at all.
The gold cut an weeded very nice. The adhesive is Very aggressive, so you had only one chance at laying it down.

So.. it ended up taking much longer than i thought, about 6 hours to cut and apply… and i wasted about 15″ x 6 ft of the gold. A learning experience. I also had about two hours laying out the patch. Had it in clip art, but it needed a LOT of cleaning up.
i did it time and materials, but didn’t mark up the gold, I charged for the 15″ x 5yd. roll… so I got paid for all my time, covered the materials and I think it was a pretty good price.
Came out to 740 with them agreeing and paying me 100 to drive 1 1/2 hours each way to look at it and measure it. (it was a rush job)

Robert, I liked working with it…. Cut and weeded great. just need to get a little more used to it to be efficient.

    Jill,
Thanks for the wet tip… I did the patches wet after i ruined two. I edge sealed just the tips of the letters. it would have taken a ling time to do it all. I was hoping to get away with it, glad to hear that you don’t.

So where was the jamboree? i saw a thread on it, but didn’t realize it was around here. My time on the boards has been limited lately, because I’ve been Remodeling, moving, and swamped with work.
    Where are you located?
