This was a full colour change using 3M 85 series
then a combination of digi print and vinyl on top
just a coincidence that it matches the house!

Nice job Peter, but I reckon you would have made more profit by painting a 1000 site board posts 😉

    Yeah absolutely
I actually printed some stickers yesterday, in sets and die cut.
took about five hours, and made far more profit than the wrap.
I probably underquoted for the wrap, if you take all the actual time in prepping etc. into consideration.
    but we live and learn

    Turned out great.
    I actually love those colors.
    They are Pittsburgh colors.

    lovely job Peter,
be well interested to know how much you charged…
I know from my yellow van wrap that these things take along time…mine was 18hours with the roof done too.

That looks really smart and obviously very well planned and fitted.
I wonder though in reality if every single minute spent from enquiry to completion is accounted for, plus every metre of vinyl etc just how much this became a labour of love?

Very nice peter, nice clean yet memorable brand. I actually prefer part wrap and digi-print + cut vinyl brands more than 90% of full wraps.
I do realise you have wrapped it all yellow before hand, I am just talking on the actual brand design/look.

How long did it take & did you wrap it alone?

The 3M 85 Series is good to work with but need to make sure theres plenty pressure and edges are all cured properly with heat etc.

    As way of “constructive” criticism.

I would say that the text is completely lost where it merges into the tyre image. Personally I would have tried to use a different colour of text if I crossing over the image was a “must”. But I would probably have tried not to combine the both at all.
I can see you have used the white outline to help with this but because the wheel has whites etc in it too, it just sort of merges. and becomes a busy blur.

Similar type situation with the Tom-Tom, but over lapping onto a tyre image confused me a little.

The bullet point panels are a bit over kill for the size of text in them.
Something simpler like a thin black outline of the shape with black text in it would be more legible at a glance.

As I said, though, nice clean design. Thank you for taking the time to post your work.

    Thanks for all the compliments,
    Rob,
I agree entirely with what you are saying about the text,
but the artwork was supplied last minute, by the client, they were putting the van in a trade show Monday, artwork arrived Thursday evening, so we had to go with what we had.
BTW its not a tom tom, its a tyre monitoring system!

Time wise, it took to long, or it was under priced, same thing though, looking back with hindsight.

The wrap took two long days with me and a good assistant, all the door handles and trim around the front doors, mirrors etc and even door locks were removed.
The print and vinyll graphics about another day to prepare, and a day to fit, and finish detail.
The front bumper will need to be redone as there are a couple of "pops" around the spot light cowls, probably my mistake, I think I know where I went wrong with stretching, and conforming the vinyl. but it was my first go with 85 series.

    Anyway to sum it up,
wraps are very specialist, one off’s need to be charged accordingly. they take a lot of time and effort to do properly, confidence is required, and even with "control tac and air release" not a job for an amateur.
I can make far better profit margins doing other things, but if you can get the right money and do it right without any faults, then yes worth doing.

    Its bl00dy hard work though!

    Peter,

Cracking looking van, I’m aware that a photograph can hide a multitude of sins, but this looks a fantastic job.. being a ‘wrap man’ I don’t tend to spend too much time looking at, or offering my opinion on, logos & cut vinyl etc as I am way more interested in the wrap itself, and credit to you, this looks a very good fit, I, like yourself no doubt, see plenty of full colour changes applied poorly and with lots of bodycolour poking through in places, roof seams, panel edges etc, but this look a very good level of finish. Well done mate!

I think the Yellow (along with Orange) especially looks great in the 85 series because of the White layer in between to give the great opacity, its a beautiful bright finish… I note you say this was your first time using it, how did you find it to work with?

    Andrew.
