Bought this stuff at the signshow, I’m a bit of a magpie with shiny things so no real reason why I bought it other than that. The woman that owns the childrens Nursery Mon-ami that I’m currently doing a sign for turned up this morning in her car, “can you just put my logo on my new car please” “what now” says I through a mouth full of tea & hob nob biscuit (best dunking biccie by far) hmm no gold vinyl ran out yesterday so into bullsh*t mode ” I can do you a special deal on this stuff its real 22 karat gold vinyl waffle waffle blah blah bullsh*t bullsh*t ” 😛 Looks pretty good though don’t it 😎

I’ve love the line of signgold films. I do a most of my work with it.
I try to specialize with this, when most people see it they are just amazed.
It conforms REALLY well to just about any surface. Just remember to edge seal it and you want have any problems.

    Nice Work!

Nice job once again Steve, if you don’t mind me asking what did you charge her for this. I ask because like you I bought a signgold starter kit at the signshow but haven’t done anything with it as yet. It’s still sitting under my work-bench.
Andy with some materials you have to seal around the edge of the vinyl to stop water/oils etc from working their way behind the graphics.
There are a number of ways this can be done, there are vinyl edge sealing products available from people like spandex, frog juice can be used as an edge sealer, I think laquer is also used.

Andy, the weak link on signgold is the adhesieve. On cars, where there is constant wiping and dirt it will peel the edge up and come unmounted.
They make an edge seeling pen as martin said, thats what I happen to use, or just some one shot. The film is so delicate that I have actually unmounted it trying to edge seal it.
I hope this helps. Signgold usally doubles my profit on a sign job, A BIG plus!

very nice work steve. ive also looked at the sign gold vinyl but never got round to actualy buying some. ive also dabbled in gold leaf on a sign foam letter..looks great!
anyway, very nice work…. cheers for sharing it.

good tips donnie & martin. i did not know about the sealing of the edges although i have heard of it being done on the honeycomb 3M reflectives.

my personal opinion of the sign gold that steve has used is that it looks a bit like prismatic foil… a fancy vinyl range from coburn and some other sources… its cheap to buy but i dont think it would last as long as the sign gold.
im sure there is differnt effects of the sign gold, is there not steve?
i personaly like the brushed effect one … i think thats what it was called. not for any other reason than it looked the closest to the real thing… well in my opinion it did. 😀 anyway im not knocking your work mate …great job!
