for a girl driver i think it looks good… nice one 😉
-
It’s bloody ‘orrible. They are called Cobra stripes because they belong on an AC Cobra. Yet they are all the rage at the moment on anything with wheels. Round the corner from me is a Daewoo Matiz with them on!
Not knocking Peter’s workmanship, of course. Tricky job, well done. 🙂
-
i agree g, not my tatse either but beats some of the crap on mini’s running around these days. 😉 i hate the checks personally…
-
I hate the French……..oooh, sorry! What a cringer.
I suppose it makes the car noticeable and that’s the objective.
-
I love the stripes. I think they’re absolutlely brilliant. So much so I’ve even got stripes on my Mondeo cos I wish it was a Mustang.
Well done Peter 😀
-
You don’t believe me Andy – I’ll post you a picture tomorrow to prove it. Bet you a tenner 😀
-
I love ’em.
It is cool for either sex…a gal will look sharp in it,
and a guy would need ane huge set of balls to be seen driving it!
Love….Jill -
why of course? does grey go quicker? I always thought it was british racing green 😕
Lynn
-
-
British racing green is for pipe smoking MGB drivers from the sixties. I’m a seventies Glam rocker 😳
-
Now that is a motor. Oh, ooh, I think I’ve had a little accident!
A local bloke has one of those. Fanny magnet mate.
I assume the swear filter will remove a word in the previous sentence. You know what I mean.
-
Nice one Peter, its a real eye-catcher.
I say its a girlscar or … it could also drive in the gayparade.
Not my taste … I’ll take the Cobra.

I’m assuming from the web address that the mini is for a lady driving instructor. (Could be wrong)
There are a lot of new instructors on the road these days, and lady instructors are always sought after. you need to be a bit different sometimes. It will certainly get her noticed. Go Girl !!!!
whatever rocks your boat !

:lol1: how did this topic go from a mini with girlie pink stripes to peter with no clothes on in the bath??? 😮
I was only saying the other day in another post that its amazing just how many topics are covered daily here ….. not for the faint hearted mind you!!! 😉 :lol1: crikey lately we’ve gone from kerning to anal things and now vinyl stripes to bathroom antics 😛
The mini looks good, definitely stands out which is ideal …. my best mate would love that car, stripes especially … she is a pink addict!!
😀
-
Jill this a car for you … it perfectly matches to your sunglasses.

Do they have minis’ in USA, i would say it would be too small?
-
quote DaveRowland:Do they have minis’ in USA, i would say it would be too small?
We put them in the back of our trucks in-case we run out of gas. 😀
Nah, they have them here. My Mom’s boss has an old mini that he has converted to a racer. They were going to hire him to use it in the movie “The Itatlian Job”, but then they realized the old mini wouldn’t really handle what they wanted to do with it so they used the new.

whats wrong with pink ? !! i quite like thos mini stripes, even though i’m not really into stripes as such, don’t like cobra’s nor mg’s eiver ! sorry ! flat caps, slippers and smoking jackets !
pink is goooooood ! not only is my car pink, my harness is pink, my roll cage, my brake callipers, window net, etc etc etc, even pink footprints over the dash board ! !!
-
Mmmmmmmm 😮 Drag on…
Not much I can say to that except……… have you ever thought of buying a Vespa? (see other thread).
😀
Nothing wrong at all with pink drag cars….nothing. They are drag cars after all.
But please don’t cast Nasturshiums ( 😛 ?) on AC Cobras.
If I e v e r earn enough money I want to have one. In the collection of course.
Can’t say I minded the stripes on the Mini either. :lol1:
Scoz
-
Drag-on, do you also wear pink suits?
Do you take this car when going to customers (just curious)?JJ
-
scozzie… genuine cobra’s are cool enough, it’s all the replica’s that get my heckles up, “look at me… i own a cobra”…. yeah but its plastic with a chevy or rover engine and it aint real ! happiest moment of my life (almost) when i blew the doors off some toy cobra at the lights near eastbourne !
J-J-O, i haven’t yet driven it to a customers place, on the odd occasion i do take her out on the road, people have my cuppa waiting by the time i knock on the door, she’s loud with a capital L !
Pimped ? wouldn’t i need a dralon interior and windows that roll down, allowing brim of hat and elbow to exit the said automobile for that ? 😀
kinda back on topic, i’ve just been asked to do a whole bunch of mini’s with chequer roof flags ! one of them wants stripes, i’ve never applied the stripes before, are they prety simple to apply on the curved bonnets ?
-
Is that a Dodge Charger ?
Had 1 when i was in germany years ago, even had the flag ontop AKA Dukes of Hazard lol 🙄 -
1971 340ci … 6.2ltr) plymouth ‘cuda (barracuda sport model… ) though obviously no longer that much in common with the original spec ! now fitted with a 7.5Ltr (447ci) chrysler V8, 600bhp without the NOS, does 0-60 in 3 sec’s, 0-105 in 6.3 secs, qtr mile in 10.8 secs @ 126mph ! 😀
sure a honda civic got sucked thru the car last week, funny clunk as it got spat outta the exhaust !!!! 😮
oops 😳 ! keep forgetting this isnt a car site ! its the same bord as our club board ! sorry Lynn !!
i’ll post a proper thing about it (for the techy minded) when i decide what to do with it as my rolling advert, maybe invite ya’ll to have a play with designs !
right….. mini stripes……
-
Hugh, how can you knock replicas and justify the mods you’ve done!!!
😉 -
quote squarebanana:hi all its a well known fact that they came from the cobra as big g states, but where did cobra get them from, a friend told me they were originally on the first mini rally cars (like the ones in the italian job) they werent stripes but leather belts to hold the bonnets down, this was copied onto cars as painted stripes on the bonnet (and on newer mini’s) he could be wrong though!
sounds plausible to me!
but then again im on my 4th stella
Alan
Could be right, but they are “cooper” stripes on the bonnet that replicate the straps not the cobra/viper ones
-
im on my first stella (and only stella artois!)
Hugh has some great pictures on this boards of those cars of his. He really gets into it 😎
-
good point Peter, but i suppose i should argue that my car isnt pretending to be a £1m car, its mod’d but no clone ! i don’t mind them too much i guess, but i do think that sill money gets spent on them and asked for them !
funnily enuf, its worth more now as original (about £45k now), than all of the money it’s had spent on it in the last 10 years ! only worth a qtr of the originals value now 🙁
i think i’ve hijacked this thread suitably now 😮 😳
i guess if ya wanna see more on the car, go to http://www.mopartalk.co.uk and look under members cars, i think its accessible by the general public, then lok for the thread on ‘hugh’s cuda’, just bumped it to page one !
-
i’m sure you’re right, 427ci.
interceptors were pretty quick for the weight of the things ! chrysler V8’s are just so much better than the chev’s etc, cost more to build, but better to start with, speaking from the point of view of cubic inches to bhp ratio from the factory.
-
Some nice pics and mental cars you’ve owned Hugh. I’d love to drive something like that into QuickFit and ask for a quote for tyres! 😀
Haven’t been to the Pod for about 15 years, daft really as I only live about 3 miles from it.
-
lol, i’d’ve phoned you for some blue vinyl if i’d known that !! only took a part roll and ran out real quick ! i used to take the orange one to ATS, used to get free part worns from a merc fleet on condition i smoked the remains of the current tyres around the back, with the lads taking bets on how tall in mm the pile of rubber bits would be !!! 24mm high x 2mtr spread/fan was the winner !
-
Mate of mine built a GT40 kit. Did a real nice job. I picked up a lot of parts for him from America when I was on holiday. It went like stink, I never knew you could go so fast around a corner. Mental. Even the kits if built well can fetch stupid money. Apparently the Japanese coudn’t get enough of them.
-
Some very nce cars on there drag on 😛 only v8 i owned was the charger n that was in the late 70’s sounded awsome.
Been racing now for nearly 20 years but all 4cyl stuff n turbo etc, rallying and rally cross FUN FUN FUN 😛
Even got banned from last years BRDC British rally x series lol still won the championship tho with 2 rounds to go 🙄 :lol1: -
WELL DONE !!! i have a mate who does rallying in a glass and carbon peugeot 306 replica body, hung on a tube chassis with a mid mounted audi v8 running thru 4wd, awesome piece of kit ! Paul hartfield is his name, britraid racing or something of the like !
my dad also used to rally years back, in the 60’s, in 68 he competed with a mk1 ford consatina fitted with a broadspeed racing developments engine…. that engiine later became the fasmous twin cam cosworth engine !
-
The tc cossie motor was 1 hell of a motor 😛 so easy to tune
We built a escort cossie 4×4 b4 ford released the escort cossie, and was served with a court order by ford stopping us using it in compertitions untill fords escort cossie was released for sale Pfftttt 👿
Now that was a fun car 😛
