You can send a PM if you don’t want to publicise…
    Only curious cause I did a transit very similar….£150 – 2 sides only….

No probs Joe £210, got through 14 mtrs of vinyl on this job, total time cutting, weeding, taping, fitting and returning to the customer was 6 hours,
what you have to remember is that the name is 3 layer vinyl and its on front, back & both sides, the customer chuntered a bit about the price but I had told him it would be at least £200 plus vat, his moan went something like this “my last van only cost me £45” what he failed to mention was that was 14 years ago on a mark 1 escort and it was hand painted on the panels only (guy must have jock ancestors) 😆

But surely 5hrs30mins for the work and 30 mins for a tea-break and hob-nobs?

I think some of his relatives must live around here Steve. Trying to get some of them to stick their hands in their pockets to shell out a few spondulux getting their van done properly is like getting blood out of a stone 😆

Getting some of them to say how much they want to spend is even harder!! Only yesterday I gave up with a guy who after a great deal of coaxing finaly agreed to shell out £150 notes to get some lettering on his transit. On asking for a £25 deposit – he dissapeared to get his cheque book never to be seen again.

I thought of phoning the hospital to make sure he was alright (hadn’t had an accident or anything) as this was a possible explanation for his failure to return chequebook in hand. More likely he had a heart atack and keeled over in some gutter at the thought of opening his purse 😆 😆

No your wrong Phill all his relatives live in Fife and I have to deal with them every day of the week, I have a real problem with most folk when it comes to vehicle graphics. The brief I get from them usually finishes with the phrase ” keep it cheap son” !!!
I sometimes feel like I should be paying them for the privalige of graphicing their van.
When I do work in Edinburgh its a different ball game, present the visual, give them the price and normally get asked when I can do it.

Oh by the way Steve nice job, what colours did you use for the chiseled font? I’ve used then quite a bit just lately, funny I’ve had them for ages and never used them on a job although they have been offered to customers as an option. You do one job and all of a sudden everyone wants them.

i love that font youve used steve. very nice.. i also think the colours you have used work great with it…

oh and yeh! i do sympathise with you on the tight fisted customers…

    constructive critisism:
phone numbers need to be much smaller mate.. they are crying out for some space… 😕

You should have seen them as the customer wanted them, this is a compromise between me and him, the guys a bit mister magoo, can’t see F’all without his specs, so thats the way he looks at signs saying if he can’t see them they are no good, he originally wanted them in a line along the bottom of the van “gotta be six inches high boy!” short sighted old fool! 😆

    You’ll never guess 😕

The tight fisted “so and so” I spoke of earlier must’ve found his chequebook. He came back today and gave me the aforementioned 25 squids 😎 to do him a layout.

Trouble was, I am finding it difficult to do such a crappy design that I can only charge a price of 150 spondulux 😆 😆

(Oh gawd- I hope none of my customers read my postings – I’ve got a “UKsigngroup.com” logo on the back of my van as well – must remember to take it off 😳 )

…leave the ‘UKSignGroup’ on Phill – just remove the ‘.com’ 😆 😆 😆

Anyways.. he came back today to look at the suggestion I had drawn up and pronounced it not worth the price I was quoting (£141+VAT) – Clearly, I had excelled in my efforts to produce a design that was so crap I could only ask 150 squids for it 😆

However – I had up my sleeve a second layout that was better than the first (Only this one was more expensive at £199 squids + the VAT). After much haggling and negotiating, I agreed to drop the price by 9 squids only if he would have additional work put onto the bonnet taking the price up to a grand total of 251 squids inclusive of VAT (less his original £25 spondulics deposit.)

Finally a deal was struck – and the van is getting lettered on Friday. 😀

However – I won’t be posting this design here because it’s basically crap 😕

Am I a tough negotiator or wot 😎

    Well it’s Friday Pm.

The van turned up this morning and the job was done.

The required amount of moolah has been handed over in exchange for the work carried out. Dignity and honour has prevailed on both sides – so off goes another satisfied customer.

    Despite what I said earlier – here’s a picture

Told you it was crap 😉
