I thought your idea of the etched glass on a van was a good one Carrie and it’s turned out great 😀 Well done, I might try that next time I need a similar effect….

Thanks for all your comments and I’m glad you liked it. As it I must of lost a few stone in sweat doing it!!!
    😀

The main thing that came out well was his logo as it took a bit of tinkering to make it look right. The whole job took 3 hrs to fit….(most of this was on the etch, as the van was not flat and I couldn’t stretch the etch that much.

The etch was a little tricky to work with as it does not conform well like standard vinyls. Also I had to cut around the deep recesses as we couldn’t heat the material up(this would cause a milky effect).

First I applied the crystal etch, which was applied semi wet, the flatter panels I was able to do dry. I then cut out around the panels. Then all that was left to do was apply the silver text.

I am glad it has given you guys some ideas to use too
…..thinking me and carrie could start a new trend!!!! 😀
But seriously thats what this site is all about, sharing ideas and thoughts and I look forward to seeing any pics of vans done by others.

    Take Care all !!!

Great looking job Stephen but I think it would have been better in white !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though, if you had a problem with the conformabillity of the etched crystal there is a cast material which is much more conformable, dont know what you charged for the job but the cast is quite dear so might make a big difference to the overall price as there is a fair bit of etch on the van. Worth thinking about next time you do a job like this, which I’m sure you will once it is seen about.

Thanks Martin I will keep that in mind. As I feel i could of done a slighlty better job with it if the stuff(now I’m sounding like Carrie!!!!) was a little more flexible.

    Did you say white!!! 😀 😀 😀

Top job Steve and Carrie, it has turned out really well.

cute idea of positioning van and camera angle to pick up on the company logo/name.

Once saw dusted etch on a black lorry tractor unit hauling a trailer advertising Playstation…very subtle but very smart..

    Looks really smart.

Another option in order to get this effect with a more conformable vinyl, is to use matt clear. This is available in some calendered ranges that I know of and gives a subtle look. Works best on darker backgrounds like this one.

Thanks for all your comments guys & girlies 😀

The etch did turn out great …… it gave just the effect we were after …….. a silver shimmer 😆 It must be a girl thing … sparkly, fluffy things you know 😆 The trouble with most of the other transparent vinyls and the like was when applied to the blue base it would turn very dull … too grey looking .. but with the crystal etch it gave off a silver shimmer appearance just right for the job! 😀

Oh I didn’t even notice our signage in the pics … what a suprise that is 😉 😆

    Stare away!!!! 😀 😆 😉 ….

Oh yeah I think its Steve you can see, as usual the pics I took didnt come out too good???? 😕 ……. or Steve decides to jump in view with no top on or pretends to pose like a model .. sprawled on the vehicle …… 😆 😆 so pics are no good ….. Ok too much info there … He’s just gonna love me!!! 😆 😆
