very smart eddie i like those panels mate.. 😛 well done..

i was actualy going to winge about some small mag panels i did yesterday.. seeing you did a spot on job ill tell you how “NOT” to deal with them.

women comes in, needs 2 magnetic panels for school of motoring car..
oh yeh and wanted them first covered in silver. after quick designing and all.. prices was £58.. ok! go for it ill be back in 30 mins..
i cut the panels, covered in silver and appled the text..
    panels cut perfect!
    design she loved!
    design applied perfect!
silver applied perfect! “or so i thought”

in she comes & thanks me.. hand in purse and said.. “theres a little bubble there” pointing at i tiny grain of dust under the vinyl in the centre of an “O” & i mean a grain of dust. i said.. its a little spec of dust! i cant burst it as its not a bubble and i cant cut it out, because if you wont except this you wont except the cut mark.. the cut would also be bigger than the spec itself.. i winged! 😡
she said.. i dont care its an imperfection! 😕

i said, well… im not doing it again sorry! take it or leave it.. she said “i love the job cant you knock somthing off it… 👿 👿 i said .. “trying to keep her happy” the bills £58 ill nock £8 off for the single spec of dust…

she smirked at me and said.. your kidding.. is that the best you can do?
i said..no! “tell you what.. while taking the panels from her. “go waste someone elses time..” pointing to the door.. and walked away..
she tutted and said to the secretary.. i cant beleive his attitude.. i wont be back here!

suits me fine i thought 😉

ok eddie i piggy back yet another of your posts.. sorry mate.. just thought ide tell how not to deal with mag panels as oppossed to your great work… 😉

    thanks for sharing bud!

    Well done Rob!!

This is typical of consumers in Britain today. get something made bespoke – then find something to complain about – get price reduced – walk out with smirk on face.

Don’t let them away with it – call their bluff (as you did) – then phone all the other sign companies in the area to be on their guard against this almighty common practice. Once these people realise that you are wise to this practice- and will not serve them in future – eventually they will learn that in business you have to play fair.

Why don’t you post her name in the problem customers forum so we can all watch out for her!!

They think they’re being clever these people, but we’re on to them 😉

Nice job Eddie, all exept for the spec of dust I can see under the “P” !!

Why did the guy want mags all the way round?
If its like over here when you get a van done you cant go to the local tip without paying to dump stuff. We did a van for a guy last year, we were really pleased with it but he was back four days latter asking us to take it all off as it had cost him a fortune to dump his customers rubbish. We ended up doing the van again but all on magnetics so he could take them off before he went to the tip.

thanks martin! now i asked this guy why so much magnets as it bumps up the price a lot! what he said was that he has a mat in the same trade
& he often helps him out if he is stuck & then he can go along unmarked
so his mate dosent look bad on site! it even looks like he has a big team of lads! then when he goes back on his own work, on go the mags again
not a bad idea eh! eddie

I had a customer complain to me that the magnetic panel I supplied him had a problem. He said that it would not stick to the car door, so I asked him if the car had been damaged and that there was filler on the door. He said it was a brand new car so could not be at fault. So I asked him to bring the car around for me to have a look at.

The first thing he showed me was where the magnetic wouldn’t stick, as he muttered and moaned about “MY WORK” I pulled out a small magnetic square and proceeded to show him a section of panel about 8 inches square that was all body filler “ON HIS NEW CAR”

    Makes you drink doesn’t it! (:) 🙄 🙄 🙄
