    That’s impressive stuff

No wonder your always on holiday and have 50 motorbikes John 😀

Did you have all those guys in white shirts waiting outside your unit while they were being done 😀

    Thanks folks.

Martin, The thing was that they had arranged for the drivers to come from all over the country to collect their new vans on the 25th at a big launch event. The publicity machine was in full swing so there was never any question of the deadline not being kept.

It was hard work, but surprisingly few of the fraught moments that tend to go hand in hand with this type of job.

You’re right though, it’s time to get a bike out and bog off for a few days. Got to wait a fortnight though. 🙁

how did the organization of the project go?

was the time frame you had to work in ok?

just asking because I’m curious and am dealing with my own mega-project at the moment (250 van-wraps to do on location dispersed over 18 different country’s) off course pictures will follow 🙂 (project is to begin in January

anyway, looks like a job well done, congratulations to you.

What a great order – the sort everyone wants but then panics trying to work out how to get it done!

Thank you all for those kind words.

To answer some of the questions….

Dennis, organisation is very important, but the most important thing if flexibility. Accurate plans depend on other people further up the chain doing their part of the job on time and sadly this rarely happens. We have to be able to respond to that as best we can and consequently a lot of our work is fire fighting. This job went very smoothly but we had a three day gap while Ford found where they had misplaced the last twenty vans. 🙂

David, perhaps not panic because we’ve done it plenty of times before and know how to deal with it, but yes, some jobs can get a bit fraught.

John, basically two part time girls making the stuff and two lads fitting it, and although it took up a fair amount of their time none of them worked on it exclusively. I would decline a job that was going to use all our resources because that would mean we couldn’t give our other customers the service they expect.

Adam, I think they were happy with what we did and there is a good chance of another order before Christmas. Fingers crossed.

Richard, measurements? After the first four of five they hardly bother with measurements. 🙂

    Morning Lynn.

I’ll post a bigger picture up later when Rob isn’t looking, but everything is white text with a black outline, so two colour, laid up.

Next meander is one week today. 😀 Off to Arras for a night, and a plate of ribs in the restaurant on the Grote Markt there, then up to Ypres for another couple of nights and to attend the Armistice Day ceremony at the Menin Gate. The bike’s all prepped and ready to go. 😛

Bigger pic as promised. Everything is white with black outline, even the chevrons along the top.

I’ve just realised that I didn’t fully answer Dennis’ question about timescale. We had no say in the completion date, but yes, I was happy to accept the job on the terms offered. After a couple of days set-up, and building parts stocks, I reckoned we could do them at a rate of one hour per van. Therefore the two and a half weeks we were given was not a problem.
