hi forbie you seem to do a lot of chrome stuff you may be able to help me
every time i get the chrome out i put it on the rollers gently gently into the pinch rollers alter the pressure to suit and when i set it away it seems to bunch up if you know what i mean i have to cut the vinyl to length
needed and then flatten out on the bench have to be really care full not to mark the vinyl and then set it away again
any tips p.s most of the stuff i do is quite small
i.e name plates for bike screens i do them in three colours black base then chrome and then fluorescent yellow -green or orange and they look great the trailers look great do you have to clean them or do you make sure they are done first i find the slightest flaw in paint etc will show up bad behind the chrome

    Looks pretty snazzy.
Love the casual on the #s.
I hate to work with chrome vinyl.
I can always see the reflection of my pissed-off face as I weed.

I posted the wrong pic here the outline is actually white ooopppsss.
I so far haven’t had a problem with the chrome at all needs a bit more pressure to cut
I have some of the 2 year stuff just to try it and then bought 5 year and this is good but expensive I have another to post digital print and chrome once I get pics I will post. The lettering had shadows cut into it and these were very small and had no problems with the 5 year stuff.
Derek I have never had to adjust roller pressure if thats what you mean I didn’t know you could what type of machine is it.

Derek i think you are using the thicker chrome vinyl which because it has been rolled up for so long when flattened to go through the cutter the vinyl lifts on its backing paper most people are probably now using the thinner stuff.

goop trailer looks nice how do you get away with thinner outlines cos of the way they clean these things i would expect it to be blown off.

    quote Jill Marie Welsh:

I’d prefer your pretty reflection than mine Jill. 😮

I don’t work with chrome at all. I also have issues with the stuff creasing, wether i use the thin or thicker stuff.

The only stuff I’ll consider is the new R-Tape stuff, but that creases too if you put it over the heaters on the soljet. Have to print it cold to work properly.

Goop, I had the same thought as Chris, surely the signs get damaged easier in the thin outline style?

    Well done tho

It isnt an outline its red over white This text was actually designed for another trailer a large tipper and the day I was due to do it the driver tipped it while tipping a load of hardcore and totally wrote it off almost wrote the unit off as well.
So he wanted to use the same lettering on the replacement truck not the same colour though but it works all the same.
I tried printing on the chrome with the cadet only used the one profile and it didn’t do to well sort of sat on top instaed of the usual burning in.

Derek – I get the same ‘bunching’ whenever I cut chrome film. I use the 5-year Coburn stuff and I put it down to static. Normally when I’m cutting regular vinyl I just let it stack up folding backwards and forwards on itself front and back of the plotter – do this with the chrome stuff and the static ‘cling’ is so strong it drags the next fold back in under the pich rollers (if that makes sense). More than a tad annoying when you waste 4 metres at £9 per metre. Only way around is to lay it out flat on both sides of the plotter – can’t find any other solution. I guess it’s because chrome film is usually polyester and not vinyl, ie. poly generates tons more static.

    Cheers

i now lay out flat what i need to use before running through cutter you have to be carefull not to mark it and i let it stand loose on the roll seems to help a bit
    cheers
