Here are some pics of a van i did with vinyl that i painted with ordinary Dulux gloss. If you know the RAL number or Pantone Ref Dulux can match it with a paint.

The purply colour on this van is paint. I used macal 9800 series grey, cut enough of a roll as you need and if possible tape on to a vertical surface, scothbrite the vinyl then clean with meths or panel wipe. Get a 4″ gloss roller and paint the whole piece of vinyl and leave to dry, preferably overnight.

Next day cut as normal and apply using low tack appli tape.

This is a good way to match hard to find colours, a litre of paint costs about £8.00 trade so is quite inexpensive too.

    Cheers Neil

Nice work Neil and a great tip for colour matching. I didn’t know you could use standard gloss paint on vinyl like that, does it not flake over time?

    Cheers, Dewi

Havn’t had any problems yet Dewi.

Make sure you prep the vinyl before paint go on

    Cheers Neil
