We thought Christmas would be fairly quiet and were looking forward to a break but things were a bit mental!

This is one of the jobs we worked on. It is a 7.5 tonne removal lorry with a body about 6 metres long. We have only been in the industry for 6 months but thanks to the encouragement and advice we have had since joining the sign group, we felt confident enough to tackle it. If we can do it anyone can. Picture’s not the greatest as it was taken outside and it was dark and frosty.

Stumbled across a wee tip when applying the vinyl wet – instead of using felt squeegees, I wrap the squeegee in a chamois and use that. Only found this out by accident because I didn’t know there was such a thing as a felt. Saves it from marking the vinyl.

Well done John, the pictures a bit big but no doubt Robert will re-size it for you, its best to make pictures no wider than 640 pixels, I normally try to keep mine to about 600 with a resolution of 72dpi.
Robert will have a laugh about the squeegee as if you read some of the past post on this subject I dont use a felt squeegee very often either. I use a nylon squeegee with a piece of velvet taped to it.
I take it you have used truck vinyl for this job, can I ask where you got it from as I dont have a contact for truck vinyl.

As I said, the picture is a bit on the dodgy side ! – it’s is a standard hard body, not a curtainsider therefore we used our usual Oracal 751.

…takes a lot of bottle to tackle a truck like this after only twenty odd weeks in the trade!!!

Well done! – I’ll bet you stood back and felt a warm sense of pride when it was all finished eh! 😉

Good job to do too…not too demanding (layout-wise) but with plenty of impact when it’s finished – so it’ll make a good one for the portfolio…brill! Having said that, those back door jams are a real pain!

thanks for sharing it John and ‘good on ya’ for having a go and making it all work.

    keep sending those piccies…

    more soon

great stuff john.. like the others have said, you have only just started out and your doing work of this size… well done. the best way is to get stuck in… if you ever have doubts ask us all for an opinion and we will help or advise if we can before going ahead…
    thanks for sharing…

with regards to the picture. martins right. its best to to exceed 650 pixels
because it knocks the page veiwing off for everyone and cloggs up the webspace we have for this forum… dont think space is an issue here. its not, we want you to use this to show your work.. its just that picture “file” was about 4 or 5 times the size of the one i have loaded 😆 😆
ive cropped yours to 600 wide and i have brightened it the best i can.
hope its ok for you! 😉
