While designing a new wrap for my van I got to thinking about the importance of company information displayed Such as telephone number, web address etc. Just wondered everyone’s opinion on this? I always went with the idea that the rear of a van is most important and should have telephone number and web address displayed! Then I got to thinking how many times have I actually followed a vehicle or seen one in the street and actually stopped to take the phone number or web address down? I can’t recall a single time! In this day and age I think people just catch the name and look online?

Name and what you do is the most important now. Personally. Everyone picks up google or Siri or whatever and there you go, there’s your info, website etc..

That said sometimes we encourage customers to put an address on. I think that helps joiners etc.. instead of looking like possible cowboys with a mobile number if they want it on.

We put our address and telephone number on the very bottom right door of the van, just incase there is any oldies out there with a pencil and paper.

Depends on space and design I suppose but if it is cluttered then a defo no from me

I agree, all contact information is best on the back.
As for the sides, less is more.

I just have logo and a web address on the back, 5 vehicles all looking the same, brand identity and awareness trumps lots of info.

How many of you have ever seen a Sky TV van wrap or FedEx van?
I am sure we all have, but does any of you know their phone numbers off-hand?
I personally believe its all about brand awareness. whether that’s locally or nationally.
If a list of information is important to you, then the rear is the best place to put it. but other info can easily be incorporated into the side designs without going over-the-top!
Personally, I can’t stand large phone and mobile numbers along the side of a van. even worse when it is splattered in writing.

    Nice van warren!

Totally agree rob! I often tell customers less is more! Have one particular customer that wants to amend his logo on every vehicle I have done for him! What started as a clean logo is now a total mess that isn’t clear to read… his idea.. add more colour! I’m just in the process of wording a subtle email to explain where he’s going wrong!

When we wrapped our Caddy, we just plastered the logo on top of a partial wrap.

One of our customers at the time, and old school printer, pointed out how poor a design it was, "it should list what you do" and that I’d spent too much time concentrating on using expensive materials (3m 1080 matt metallic blue) that nobody would notice.

Of course his advice was duly ignored, a few years later he went bump, whilst our wrap looks as good as the day it was fitted

Our 2nd van went with the same design, they do get seen out and about.

Less is more, and if your customers need spoon feeding everything service you provide, then my logic is you probably don’t want them as a customer. 😆
