vehicle graphics: audio car
Okay, not that old, just over 2 years, but I’ve been tied up on samey samey contract work for ages, and haven’t really had time to let the creative juices flow as much as I would like, So here’s one I made earlier.
The entire job is reflective vinyl (with the exception of the black).
The chain detail runs around the entire car, signifying the security aspect of the business, despite the name.

Firstly i’d like to thank you for posting your work and contributing to the site.
Secondly good to see your picture up, its great when you can see who your talking too!
And thirdly the car looks great, the chain really shows off well being in the reflective, if you don’t mind me asking what did you charge for this job – reflective is not the cheapest stuff to buy! and also if you did it two years ago is it still standing up well? some reflectives seem to have very short life spans.

Lorraine, the price is a bit of a funny one. The owner of the car is a very good friend, and we kind of did a contra deal, he got the car done and I got an all-singing all-dancing car security system, with remote engine starting for cold mornings, proximity sensors, and a little device that slows it down when the wife’s driving, all in all about £750’s worth.
I wasn’t going to argue 😀

What was the device that slows it down when the wife’s driving? – a remote control Handbrake maybe 😆 😆 😆

i know some refelctives are a nightmare to apply. with this in mind, you have also tackled those curves on the car very well… just out of interest, what make of reflective vinyl did you use?
oh and before i forget. thanks for posting your pictures on my/our boards…
the fact that you have also taken the time to load your own picture saves me that bit more of my time… cheers mate and welcome aboard! -

Rob, the reflective was all LG Luckylite
Not the cheapest, possibly the best.
Oreo, there is something far better than reflective… Wait while you see my van 😉

ahhh another user of luckylite! excellent mate… thats what i use. i get it from europoint display in glasgow. possibley the best reflective on the market for its grade. in my opinion anyway. not the cheapest but well worth buying.
ive spoke to europoint about this on numerous occasions because i dont like refering anything to my group unless i class it “spot-on”.
like lucky lite, europoint are just about to launch a reflective with a polyester film over the surface , just like luckylite. the film is the secret.
it stops the vinyl from tearing easy. infact makes it almost impossible to tear. it also has uv stabilities, protecting the colour pigmentation.
ive seen me spend 30 mins picking off a bit of reflective that basicaly snapped while applying and would not come back of. not after heating or using a squeegee, just positioning it!anyway well done on the car again. nice to see your choice in reflective is as high as the grade of your work….

I’ve been asked to quote on removing two reflective logos from the sides of vehicles for my biggest customer. 😕 😕
They’re only 500mm square. 😕 😕 😕
When I told them how much they had heart failure… then I asked them to have a go themselves. 😆
The other problem…. oh, there’s only a couple of thousand vehicles to do over then next year or so. (?) (!) (!) (!)
Methinks me needs a little employee and one of those fancy rubber removal thingys 😮
The Scooby’s not too bad, however, as all the reflective is overlayed onto black. This car is now for sale. My wallet is itching. The wife’s given it her blessing. My bank manager hates me. Um. 2 out of three. Watch this space. Vroom vroom 😉

yep know the feeling mate. i purchased two half decent rubber wheels for removing vinyl just recently… they are about .75 inch broad and 5 inches deep. fits onto a powerdrill & works a treat. i got them in for reflective only… we are about to use vehicle wrap doing our own vans with the new logo and layout ive designed… its taken me long enough to get round to it lol…
anyway get the wheels if you need to remove the stuff… but get the proper ones not the thin ones that dont last 5 mins.. (!) (!)

I know why the cars got chains round it … sticky would have you belive its part of the design !!! but this car lives in SELBY !! and if any of you had ever been there you would realise that its to stop half the population nicking it !!! 😀
