I think Rob decided to disable the VAT calculator. I used to find it handy if I got an invoice with VAT included.

Was only yesterday my trainee was asking how to work it back and I never even considered a web search so thanks for the heads up guys.

    Cheers

x 3 and divide by 23 will give you the vat on a totaled invoice!

simplest method by far with a calculator is to

add vat… x by 1.15 and you’ll have the total.
    minus vat…. / by 1.15

or even in head…. add 10%, half of that 10% is 5%, add the two which give 15%,

    simples!

No your wrong Graeme – you’re thinking of multiplying by .85 which is not the same as dividing by 1.15. Dividing by 1.15 will give an accurate figure of the pre-VAT amount. 😎

What do they teach them in schools these days? :banghead:

Your trainee should be telling you how to do it. 😀

I know how to calculate the amount but when doing the vat books at the end of the quarter its handy when you’ve got a quick calculator to work across the columns.

Not a lot that is useful in every day life John. Mind you when they finish at 2.30 pm with an hour for lunch and a 20 minute break in the morning there isn’t much time left to actually learn anything is there?? :lol1:

    Cheers
