Picy of a resent van all text applied after fitting prints took me and an another guy 5 Hours to fit using a product called avery easy apply heated the graphic into the resesses and then put blade along the vallys to insure minimum lift. causes a faint line on dark areas when up close but stops recalls from digrunteled customers in the future. I find if you tell people up front what you are going to do and explain why good communication avoides any uncertanty when the jobs complete.

great work neil and i have to say a great tip. the reason is i use this one myself. i mentioned this on the site about 6 months ago and said i would show a demo but decided not to because i think so many will be a little heavy handed doing the sliting in the corners of the valley that they may have come backs. rust in other words.. 😮 (i dont want blamed in other words 😆 )
the small pin-line that is left is minimal and really isnt noticed. your 100% correct!
something i thought about was before applying the graphic is to run thin lines of vinyl round the valleys then apply the graphics. slit ontop of the line and leave. this way i feel a bit easier letting out guys do it themselves as there is less chance of cutting the paint work.
im sure i have pictures of doing this some place i may post over next day or so if i find them. 😉

    Neil ,
Nice work, I use the same technique if Iam using vinyl Iam not sure about.
You hardly notice it in panels this shallow anyway.
I wish there was a cutting knife on the market that you could set the cutting depth, so damaging paintwork wouldnt be an issue.

Ive seen this van driving around South London Iam certain and thought at the time how effective it looked.

    Thanks for the comments
re cutting depth I wonder if you could use a plotter blade holder like the ones on the graphtec plotters so you can set the depth to 60microns an just score the vinyl I bet Edward Mathias could manufacture a holder just for this job you would find it hard to cut in the corners but a cut on the vally floor may be just as effective.

Remember where you heard it first 😆

Re: what printer? I dont actually know as I bought the prints in from DDI
they are unlaminated prints ( Solvent I think ) on Avery easy apply, very conformable and with stood the Mike the Sign Rub test so I hope they hold up the printer gave me a 3 year guide to durability.

Well done… that looks great! You title to this is 50DPI. Was this only printed at 50 dpi? were you responsible for the design as well? When files were taken to the printer did you have them full size or to scale?

I had a popup display board printed last week and I had only to scale it to 24%, which was a relief as it was at least 3.5m long and 2m high! My poor system was screaming in agony at the thought!!!

    Again, well done… great job!
