  • Van with part wrap: price advice.

Posted by Stuart Miller on March 22, 2011 at 10:36 am

I have recently quoted this van.
Originally customer asked for the Digital print with only name and phone number.
He accepted my quote asked me to go ahead but then immediately asked to add all of the extra text.
I said it would cost more and requoted. Now he says I am too expensive.

So trying to get an idea what others may charge for such a design.

The print I have to buy in and have priced for a quality cast which can push into the recess.
    thanks

I wouldn’t start haggling with him. If you’ve quoted him a fair price and he doesn’t like it, well move on. My last 2 van customers thought I was to expensive but I still got the jobs 🙄

Quite agree Neil. I am not about to start haggling, but as i don’t often buy in digital prints on cast for a partial wrap I’m not sure I’m in the right ball park so just trying to get a feel for what others would charge so I am better informed for the future.

Stuart, how much did he price go up, it couldn’t have been to much from what I can see as there is only a couple of metres of vinyl extra.
Your quote was accepted with the digital stuff so you couldn’t have been o far out with that pricing.
Sounds like the customer just expected to to include the rest for nothing, had customers try that one on with me as well :lol1:

    I concur with Martin.
Out of my shop, since I have to outsource prints, that van would have been about $850 minimum but more like $950 after the client started to haggle.

Thanks for all the replies so far but isn’t anyone apart from Jill prepared to give me some ball park figures.
I know, and am quite used to dealing with, all the customer problems and its not that I am asking about.
This part of the forum I thought was about getting pricing advice.
That is all I am asking about.
I know its going to be different depending on where you are , overheads etc but normally when people ask about pricing they get a bit more help and ideas.
    ball park figures please
    £150?
    £350?
    £550?
    £650?
    more?

Sorry Stuart, I try not to get to involved when people ask for this sort of advice as I always seem to be a lot cheaper than others on the forum plus I have no idea what you would be paying for the digital prints. Long time since I have had to buy any in as I don’t get asked for them.

What did you price the job at before and after the changes??

Thanks. I realise everyones very different but just wanted some ideas.
My original Estimate was stipulated as an estimate as he hadn’t decided on the text and was just for the digital print really with a name and phone number which I didn’t really add anything on for. He was told extra text would make the price higher. estimate was £450.00.

When the artwork was supplied it was part of a pdf catologue which the designs had to be isolated and removed from. This took quite a bit of work in illustrator to build a cropping mask the correct shape to cut out the design.
This extra design work and the extra Text and I gave a fixed quote of £600.

So think I was in the right area.
Went to see him again and explained where the price difference came from and it seems he is all happy again after assuring him it would not go up anymore as this was now a fixed quote.
