I’ve never been brave enough to show my work as I’m a complete amateur compared to you guys. (note the Aria helmet WOW!)
But I’ve had a few glasses of brandy and feeling brave!!!!
I did this job today outside in the freezing scottish rain, (the snow is on it’s way tomorrow!) I used 2 shades of yellow to create a chiseled effect on his logo.
Do you worst guys, tell me where I’ve gone wrong!

    😳 Marcella……

Pictures are too big! Try resizing to 600 pixels wide max.

Anyway, very nice. I love that chiselled lettering. Is this a font or did you have to create the shadow effect yourself?

I can’t figure out how to change the size of pic! I’m not that technical!!!! I’ve just uploaded the pics from my digi camera…..
Anyway thanks for your comments… that was pretty painless so far! I work with Signlab E6.1 so the chisel effect is available at the touch of a button.
The customers brief was a full colour shaded logo but he didn’t want to part with many bucks! So I showed this to him and he went for it.

Well done Marcella – that’s excellent, your customer must be really pleased with that.

It took ages to download onto my screen but was worth the wait 😀

    Hi Marcella

    Very nice work.

Was it hard to do in the rain. If this is the quality of your work, you must show us some more.

    Well done.

Other than the HUGE pix, I like it a lot.
The colors are very effective and it is a nice clean job.
    Good use of negative space.
There IS a lot of copy, but you’ve kept it tasteful.
Only construstive criticism might be the kerning on Smartec,
but maybe it’s supposed to look that way?
You deserve a brandy or two after this job, girlfriend!
    Love….Jill

    Thank you for kind comments!

It was painful to do in the rain….. numb fingers! Needless to say it took much longer than it should have.
I know what you mean about the kerning on the ‘smartec’ Jill, the customer already had the name written in that way on his headed note paper and wanted to keep it the same. I always cringe when a customer asks for soooo much info on their van and do my best to talk them out of it. But this time I kept it small and simple and thought it just got away with it.

Very nice Marcella, layout is simple and uncluttered, yet very effective. there are too many vans on the roads with far too much going on………… I really like this 3D lettering effect you have used a lot, except for one thing, the 3D border on the oval shape. Just looks a bit weird, and does not appear to match up, but overall an excellent job…….. well done !

The font used for the list of services is Handel Gothic, or Handled as it’s called in Signlab.

    Well smart Marcella!

Yellow & blue always looks good and I like the chisel effect, have used it myself in the past.

Hope you saved some of that brandy?

    Hi,
Nik helped me out! I opened them into Adobe Photoshop and reduced the pixel width to 550. Saved it at that and it was small enough to use. Hope this helps.

Hey Marcella! WOW! That is excellent, why be worried? Great clean design, good choice of type and well done for not freezing your fingers off on application! Hope you didn’t have too bad a hangover today! 🙂 I think you teach a few folks a thing or too about layout, good font choice on the lower panels too and best of all, it suits the van AND it fits the comopany’s name/style.

    You met the breif girl!

    Well Done :clap2:

Look forward to seeing more of your talent.

Feel sorry for you working in the cold tho. I worked last night at midnight, and it was 20 deg c, and I was complaining, And today it was 34 deg c and I was complaining again, heavens knows what I would have been saying if snow was coming :lol1:

Seriously though, don’t worry about the brandy in future. You have an obvious talent, that with the help of the many experienced sign guys and girls here, will only help you get better.

Cheers, and keep up the good work.

    Shane
