  • Vacation in October…road trip

Posted by Marekdlux on June 14, 2005 at 12:51 am

I’ll be flying out to England/Wales around the beginning of October this year for my cousins’ wedding. I will most likely be driving myself and my girlfriend from London Heathrow airport to my Aunts’ house near Carmarthen. It will be my girlfriends’ first trip to the UK so we will probably “cuise” in true California fasion on the way up to my Aunts house. If anyone is along the way let me know and I will stop in and buy you a pint. Even if you’re not on the way I’m sure I will get spun around on a couple of roundabouts so let me know if you’re remotely close.

Sounds like you’re a South Walian but if you venture up to North Wales or fancy seeing Chester give me a ring! 😀

If you’re anywhere near Manchester at all (you never know, you may make a wrong turn at Swansea 🙄 ) we’ll have to go out for a beer, and I can give you your Fruit sweety thingies in person instead of relying on the snail mail 😀

    Cheers, Dewi

A little update on this post…

I’ll be flying into Bristol airport on the 3rd of October. My cousins wedding is in Carmarthen (mannaddcerrig..spelling?) on the following Saturday. I am flying out of London-heathrow on the 16th. I am definately going to spend 2-3 days in the London area. One of my cousins lives north of London so we will stay there a night (at least), also I am setting up a work/pleasure meeting at the Legoland Windsor park (I didn’t check it out last time). I know everyone, well most everyone, in the UK thinks everything is so far to travel; well with me living in the states most of my life a 9-10 hour car ride is normal when my Dad used to take me on vacation so if anyone is within that time frame of where I will be staying/traveling from and wants a visit from an American Welsh-man that loves a pint of beer, let me know. Thanks.

    Hi Marek,

It would be grate if you could make it up to Cumbria and the Lake District. We’re in a little place called Sandside, apart from fantastic views the only other thing in the village is a pub 😮

You’re more than welcome to visit and take the dogs out onto the estuary!

Marek, if you get lost, just chuck a lefty at singapore and land in Brissie, I’ll buy you the pint.

Have a good break mate. I’d love to have the op to visit these guys in the UK, but can’t see it happening anytime soon.

    Cheers

I would have invited you to newport (you’d be going past/through it?) but it really is a god-forsaken place that I wouldn’t suggest visiting,

Have a great time, I’ll try and stop the weather from being typically welsh for you.

I figured I would just dig out this post from last year to tell everyone about my trip this year.
I will be flying into London (heathrow) on May 26th this year. I will be leaving on the 4th of June. A short trip, but without any weddings to go to this year it should be enough. No choice with school and work anyways.
My mate in Ammanford might be taking me and my girlfriend up to Manchester one of the days, my other friend wants to take us to Bath and stay the night and do Stone henge and all that. Not sure what else we are going to be doing. If anyone wants to meet up, PM me your address/email and we can get in contact. I can’t PM back so make sure to leave an email address.
I’ll probably be meeting up with Bill when I am there. Carrie, your place doesn’t seem that far away from where we will be at.
Lynn, where are you guys located? I still have your number in my phone.

You’d be more then welcome to come and visit us in Wrexham, there is Chester on your way from Manchester, we are about 50mins from Manchester and Chester is about 2/3 of the way between us and Manchester. There is also Llangollen, Snowdonia and the Horse shoe pass about 20mins down the road from us.

    Hey Matt,
I like the stadium in Cardiff. My cousin actually lives in Cardiff, so I am sure I will be there one of the days.
Jayne, I’ll have to talk to my mate in Ammanford. I think he is planning the road trip up to Manchester. I’ll forward on this info to him to see if we can make it.
Lynn, It looks like you may be on the way from Manchester to London, which we will be doing on the way back. I’ll keep you posted if we can stop by. It would be nice to see everyone.

Marek you are more than welcome to pop in if you happen to come this way 😉

Its a bit further away than it looks … mainly due to our roads …. mostly country roads that are rather slow …. and here in town is even worse .. can take you an hour just to get from one side to the other … and we are by no means a large town :lol1:

    😀
