  • UV Flatbed Recommendations?

Posted by Wayne Cruickshank on September 16, 2008 at 8:37 am

    Hi all,

we’re currently looking to invest in an entry level UV flatbed machine to add to our arsenal (HP5000 and Mimaki JV3).

So far we’ve viewed the Agfa Anapurna M and the HP 45000. Does anyone have any recommendations, or personal experiences of either of these two machines?

We also need to look at the Gerber Solara and possibly the brand new Mimaki cold curing machine? Again, any experiences? Or, even other suggestions for machines we haven’t considered?

    Thanks in advance.

Isn’t the Gerber Ion cold curing as well?

Yes it is. It uses new UV technology whereas the Mimaki has LED lamps.

It’s another one we need to consider 😕

Dear Wayne, I saw your post and decided to join the forum and reply.

I bought an Anapurna M in July and it seems to be the best investment we have made. Sure you can get faster printers but at the price, the Anapurna is a great machine.

Print quality is excellent on board and roll material. (we even printed on a toilet seat).

I hope you make the decision to go the UV route.

Please contact me if you need any more advice.

    best regards,

    peter

Ive had a little to do with the HP 45000 and from what I can see its a good machine, backed by some of the best support ive dealt with. Unlike many other competitors, if HP find a problem with their equipment after its been sold, they often realise fix kits and firmware updates etc to deal with any common issues that arise. I believe they are a good machine, but like keep in mind that its not a solvent machine, so if the company isnt WELL versed in UV technology, I would be looking into it a little further. There will be teething problems and you will need to have someone to turn to in this case.

I dont know much about the other machines, but HP have a great name and are leaders in development and you wont see them release technology before its well tested and proven.

Hope it all works out well for you!!
