I got a prompt to update the UKSG toolbar and straight after it updated my Firefox crashed and now I can’t open Firefox at all, I tried restarting the computer but still nothing.

    Is it just me?

I had the same prompt and when I opened up the next session I had a"Yahoo" toolbar installed instead, so I done a system restore to the previous day and the Yahoo toolbar is still there and the signboard toolbar has disappeared completely. Can’t seem to find a way to disable the Yahoo one! 👿 (hot)

well I have tried a few things that I know of and can’t get it sorted, I’m on a mac so as far as I know don’t have a system restore function so can’t go back.

I tried to delete the toolbar manually but can’t find it in my system settings as I don’t know what it’s called or where it’s kept

All I know is it is going to slow me down 10x as all my bookmarks and shortcuts etc are set up on there and I have never used anything else, typing this using Safari which even takes some getting used to.

    help 😥

Well I managed to open Firefox in safe mode and disabled the toolbars and it works again.

Rob; I think there might be an issue with apple Macs and your latest update just so you know.

    cheers

I’ve just updated my PC at work guys. no issues at all…
ide be interested to hear if anyone else is having problems with theirs?

The thing is, the UKSB TOOLBAR is running on over 2000 computers in the UK alone.
The platform it is run on and company that hosts it, also host over 170 million other toolbars worldwide. Before any updates are released it is heavily tried and tested. so i would like to think these two faults are down to personal settings/computer etc

Mike, The Yahoo toolbar is not connected to the UKSB one in any way mate.
different platform, different hosting company etc. might be worth running a malware check on your computer as its very odd that one toolbar, completely unconnected to another, gets replaced by another for no reason.

not sure why Rob but it’s been 100% fine for many many months but as soon as I did the update it crashed and then it was unable to open Firefox at all (again I’m on a mac and not PC if it makes any difference)

When I opened Firefox in Safe mode and turned off the toolbar then Firefox worked normal again.

Just thought I would let you know and hope it’s just me but unfortunately have had to remove the toolbar completely, when I get a chance I might try putting it back to see if it works or not.

    Cheers

    hi warren
no no… by all means let me know mate. would rather have the feedback, good or bad. im just mentioning the above because if it wasnt an isolated case ide have thought from the 2000+ UKSB toolbar users ide have heard something, but even more so, the hosting company as they have over 170 million users.
MAC users shouldnt have any issues either. but i do know it has only become 100% MAC compatible for around 6 months now.

this is a help page that you might find useful.
    http://uksignboards.myforumtoolbar.com/ … on=2.7.2.0

i would also like to hear if anyone else is having a problem? if so please give details here and i will contact our hosting company with a direct link to this thread.

yep, you must be right Dave, 170 million users worldwide and they forgot to check it was compatible before launching. :lol1:
As warren says, its been working for months for him. only recently did he have a problem.

just kidding Dave, no disrespect meant mate. 😉

OK, had a look to see if there are any glitches or problems reported with regards to the toolbar on our hosts website. please keep in mind, the same toolbar platform UKSB uses also hosts 170 million other toobars wordlwide.

The hosts have Zero glitches announced for any browser. Nor has ANY of its publishers posted any complaints within their help forums. there are currently 250,000 toolbar publishers, 170 million toolbar users. over 2000 of those are UKSB users…

The only thing i can see that might be any relevance for some folk, but NOT the toolbar itself. is that Firefox 4 is currently running in BETA version. So may explain why some folk are having issues with Firefox as it has not yet been released as a 100% stable browser as yet.

I know this is just me obviously as Rob has pointed out :lol1: 😉

I have a brand new imac with a fresh install of my adobe software etc, thought I would try re-installing the toolbar and it did the same thing as before 😕

very strange, I presumed there was a problem on my last imac which caused this strange issue with it but the exact same thing this time.

oh well, will just have to keep asking here for suppliers etc :lol1:

Just thought I would update the thread

    cheers

    as i said…

thanks also to UKSB member for contacting me telling me firefox is about to launch new major update any day now.
there for, as soon as Firefox "which is currently in BETA version" launch theirs, the toolbar will automatically follow suit within hours… it obviously cannot update itself on a software that is not 100% stable. i.e. firefox.

    to reiterate…

I am quietly confident if there was ANY major glitches going on, i will be notified directly from the software company.

I do apologies for the inconvenience that seems to be happening with you warren and john with mac’s… maybe you both want to invest in a proper PC ahem… i mean computer… ahem… sorry… a computer thats more stable… ahem… sory sorry… MACs are stable… thought i was talking about PC’s there for a moment. :lol1: :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:

joking aside guys… ill keep you posted as soon as Firefox comes out of BETA mode.

I’m running FireFox 3.6.11 on a Mac, both at work and at home, and no issues with
the latest toolbar, so a bit of an odd one. OSX 10.5.8 at work, and 10.6.4 at home….
