  • Unusual happenings when saving a file in Corel 11

If l create a shape or text in corel, l save the file as a *.plt. If l reopen the file the size of the shape or text has changed, the proportions are the same it’s just that it 2-3% smaller. E.G a saved rectangle would measure 600mm x 173mm when l reopen it might be 591 x 168 Any ideas why this is happening? (?)

When you export from corel to plt there are other settings in the export filter that have a bearing. Like plotter units and scale, for example. Have a look around in the export filter options.

As an example, I used to use a particular program that used corel plt files but I had to export with the plotter unit set to 984 in order for it to import at the correct size. Strange but true!

Edit: I’ve just tried this in ver 9 coreldraw and it works perfectly without me changing any settings.

I don’t know why this should be – try saving as an .eps file instead

Are you re-opening in corel or something else?

    Andy,
thanks for the info. I will try adjusting the settings, l wasn’t aware of them ….never had to change them.
I normally open the files in the machine s/w and noticed the difference so l reopened the file in corel and noticed it there too.

Phil saving as an eps wont help in this situation. Cheers

Just for information, the plotter units should say 1016 by default. Both for export and import.
