Hopefully someone can help. This is a slightly amusing one.

We had a fresh enquiry for a quantity of UV printed signs sized at approx 3400mm x 900mm for a bowling alley which were printed and despatched as requested.
The client has since called to tell us that they do not show up when the lights go off?

Naturally after enquiring deeper into what he was talking about it turns out that he thought a UV printed sign meant that it would show up in ultra violet light. :smiles:

I have of course clarified him on that point and reminded him that at no point was this ever mentioned but also promised him I would look into it. Has anyone ever seen or had signs made/printed where this is possible?

    many thanks

    Hi Ryan!

Wow thats a great mix-up :smiles:

The only "UV reactive" printing I have seen is on small sizes such as posters and t-shirts etc. It takes a particular ink which is screenprinted I believe.

Thats what I suspected. I have seen UV ink and vinyl in very small sizes but nothing commercial. It’s a new one on me thats for sure. lol

Not being funny but could he not just use black lights?

Sometimes a little knowledge can be dangerous. Your client has obviously heard of UV printers and drawn his own conclusions 😆

You can get a photoluminescent material that glows in the dark – same as used for fire exit signs e.g http://www.screwfix.com/p/nite-glo-fire … 50mm/89520

Perhaps he means flourescent ink which glows under UV lights.
