Paypal was called x.com before he changed it
i think one of his children is called “X” also. 😳 -
I still call a Snickers a Marathon, and I think this will be very much the case with this, for years to come.
I agree, the name change is crap!I think because of the shadow that hangs over Twitter with the banned accounts, suppressed news and info, election interference and more. This might be an attempt to distance the platform from all that.
Plus, from what I understand, he is trying to completely reinvent the site to be more than just a microblogging website as such. Will he be able to do it, is anyone guess?

I thought all of the election interference & fake news was from Facebook via Palantir.

Thank goodness their branding guidelines are up to date – would hate to take an order from them.

Twitter was up to their eyes in it mate, I watched lots of the interrogation of senior staff in the supreme courts.
filtering news and information, deleting posts and banning accounts and much more.
Even during covid Top ranking Doctors and Health Experts raising any questions whatsoever about Covid were censored as false miss information and banned by closing their accounts. The lawyers tore strips off them live on camera, it really was a disgrace when you see exactly what was happening first-hand.
The same applied to the 2020 US elections… why nobody has been jailed yet is beyond me.-
Doesn’t surprise me, they’re all as bad as each other. I avoid it all.

Well, the new X sign is up in place, and I can’t say I am impressed by it.
-
I really dislike any signs, logos or letters fixed to a gantry system.
But this one is particularly bad! The whole thing looks like it’s made using a Meccano set!
I am hoping this is a temporary sign. Surely a bit more thought should have gone into this?-

‘X’ on Twitter’s Headquarters Faces Investigation Over Permit Violations
An “X” sign installed on Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters on Friday as part of the company’s rebranding is under investigation by the city for lacking proper permits, according to officials.
“A building permit is required to make sure the sign is structurally sound and installed safely,” Patrick Hannan, a spokesman for the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection, said in a statement on Sunday. “Planning review and approval is also necessary for the installation of this sign.”
An inspector went to the Twitter headquarters on Friday to notify the company that it was in violation and to request access to the roof to inspect the sign, according to a complaint filed with the city.
Twitter representatives told the inspector that the sign was a “temporary lighted sign for an event,” the complaint said.
Inspectors with the city attempted to gain access to the roof a second time on Saturday, but “upon arrival access was denied again by tenant,” the complaint said.
Twitter did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Sunday.
Matt Dorsey, the District 6 supervisor who represents the part of the city where Twitter has its headquarters, said the company seemed to be in an “adversarial posture” when it refused to let building inspectors in. He said he hoped that it would change its stance.
“I would like to sort of extend an olive branch,” Mr. Dorsey said. “I think there’s a lot of people in city government who would welcome the opportunity to work with a large employer like X, and let’s figure out what we’re going to do with the sign, but we can have a good productive partnership with a city employer.”
This is not the first time the social media company has run into an issue over signage.
The San Francisco police stopped workers on Monday from removing the brand’s iconic bird logo from the side of the building, saying that the workers had not taped off the sidewalk to keep pedestrians safe if anything fell, The Associated Press reported.
A complaint about that sign’s removal was also filed with the city. The “X” was installed shortly after the original sign was removed, The A.P. reported.

Twitter didn’t have oneI think ignorance of planning etc. would be typical of them, Colin. 🤨
However, a side of me suspects this is all done by design. By that I mean, intentionally being stopped by police removing the old Twitter sign. everyone taking personal video footage and sharing the disruption online, TV crews on site etc. it all appears worldwide on TV and also goes viral within hours.
Next step, shove up a badly thrown-together rooftop sign, blinding neighbours with flashing bright LEDs and boom! it’s all back over the news and the internet.
The publicity and coverage it has gained worldwide has saved them a fortune, even if they do get slapped with a fine and told to go through the proper processes. The NEWS of X is already a hot topic! -
100% Rob, it is not like they can’t afford the fines! As you say very good promotion for X.
It looks like it was designed to fold up and move around for promotion elsewhere?!

I use twitter a lot, i have strong opinions on certain subjects, and have a good number of followers – many of whom I call friends. I have had some great fun yelling matches with people I disagree with over the years.
But now that the “interesting people” (blue check marks) are no longer verifiable, and the general feel of the site is somewhat oppressive and pointless, with that f++++++g (flipping) Musk moron throwing curveballs just to get attention, I am just no longer interested.
His electric cars are time bombs waiting to go off.
I wish he would just take his money and bugger off to Mars.
Nobody likes him any more.

from 2006 – 2009 are terrible. they look like cartoons rather than a logo.
X is a letter, so turning it into a logo wont be easy because it will just look like a font. 🤔 -
I agree Leslie, they are all bad other than 2010 – 2012.
2023 is terrible. 🙄 -
