  • TV Digital Menu Displays, help sourcing them, please?

    Afternoon all,

I have a good customer who wants to upgrade his menu system to the digital TV screens and I’m seeing if anybody has done these and maybe has a contact.

I installed them some years ago but have no idea where the company I worked for at the time got them.

    Many thanks in advance…

Google “Digital Signs” or something along those lines and you will find lots of options, Craig.
You will find companies offering a full package from a cloud-based control platform, screens and more. Whilst others just offer the platform/software and terminal USB/Dongle type setup.
No matter what one you choose, you want one that you are not tied into by their software or long-term lease commitment because by the time you find out if Digital Signage will work for you or not, you may be committed in one way or another.
The way “I think” many will look at it is, to dip your toe in and allow it to work in the background and re-evaluate where you are in 12-24 months. which is fine, but personally, I think to do it right, you need someone dedicated to selling this full time, sub the installs of the screens etc (not sign makers).
    Contracts are key…
This type of thing needs to be sold on a lease-type agreement, a 24 – 36 months type scenario with an initial installation price.
Within the lease, you will need artwork updates or complete changes accounted for. i.e. 2 hours of artwork per month included, and £50 per hour after that. All done remotely of course.
You will also need things like breakdown cover/insurance or accidental damage.

Digital Signage Is a nice concept and can work pretty easily once “set up correctly”.
I have seen companies pop up here and there already offering this, and sad to say it appears to be going the same way vehicle wrapping went. Everything is done cheap as chips and badly executed. they then shut down and another opens up.
