  • trying to cut layered fonts help please?

I’ve been trying to layer 2 pieces of vinyl for a chiselled font effect but am having problems with my alignment.

I am using Oracal 751 vinyl and paper application tape applied dry with a 3m gold squeegee or mactac felt squeegee but still no joy. I am using punched 3.5mm holes in each corner to in order for me to make my alignment but this is still way out.

I really haven’t a clue why my layers aren’t aligning so any pointers would be much appreciated.

I have attatched my design file I have been using to cut from.

    Thanks
    Nathan

Nathan your drawing looks fine to me, why not try it cut in a weed border for alignment?

Cut the lighter red as a solid. Then cut the black as the chisel parts that will layer on top fo the red..

registration on overlaying them should be no problem at all. It gets really awkward when you try to cut out the black shadow into the red layer and match them as one layer. Tthat is,,, cutting out the black and trying to fit it with cut black pieces.
