Any reviews of this new printer? Seems a lot cheaper than the VSi printers why? Considering adding another machine and the VSi would make sense because of the interchageability of ink cartridges but the new machine looks interesting. Anyone using one?

I’ve not used one before but I have had some feedback from a couple of ‘people in the know’. It’s not been the greatest feedback to be honest, but these are from people that also sell other machines so it could be biased.

I know that we were selling one of our Ricoh latex printers against a Roland TruVIS earlier this month, the customer was trying to print solid backlit film menus for a well known restaurant…..

….(we’re installing this week  )

Thanks Stafford, how does he VSi stand up in comparison? I’m guessing even the True VIS is a step up from our VP’s?

The VSi is a cracking machine, I really like them. But I can’t give you an honest answer on the TruVIS having never used one personally. I do know that it’s very well priced though.

    Hi Jason,

Following on from your question at the top, I have my input below for your perusal…

The Roland TrueVIS SG series is certainly a machine to take notice of, and definitely one that requires a demo to see the difference in the print quality compared to the previous models. You can achieve very vibrant and glossy prints from the new TrueVIS inks and new print head technology.

The SG series is a replacement for the Roland VersaCAMM SPi series, rather than a replacement for the Roland VersaCAMM VSi Series, which is why you have noticed a difference in price. Although you can achieve high quality prints from the VersaCAMM range, the TrueVIS range will give you a stronger print, especially when printing in solid colours.

If you would like to come and see the SG / VG series printer at our demo centre, please let me know and we can arrange this. If you have any further queries at all, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Best Regards,

    Chris

Jason if I was you and you get the chance go and spend a couple of hours with Joe from Roland at the creative centre Roland have in Bristol..if you can see what this machine can do first hand and all the different applications it can be used for I’m sure you will form a better opinion. I myself would never go off what a reseller is telling you at the end of the day there job is to sell machines and lets face it if you were a reseller your going to push the client towards a machine that stacks up better for you with a better margin.

Joe is a member on these boards and I’m sure he can assist you…Roland will never hard sell you either it’s all about educating you and seeing what the product can do for your business and your applications.

We run Roland XR640 machines and these are workhorse machines…just last week it printed 30 full 50m rolls one after the other with no issues what so ever.

Go and see each machine and put it through its paces.

    Hope this helps

    No problem Jason, you’re welcome.

It certainly would be worth spending a bit of time looking at the printer to make sure it is right for you. The TrueVIS inks are different to the EcoSol MAX inks, so would be prudent to run some test’s on the material you are currently using to ensure it works as expected or highlights any limitations.

If there is anything further you’d like to hear, please let me know.

    All the best,

    Chris
