  • transparent coloured films over reflective, does it work?

Hi, I have a customer who is looking for a one off sign approx 6ft x 4ft & want the background to be a cerise pink with black lettering/logos etc. But they want the pink to be reflective if possible.

I’m wondering how best to achieve this without having to buy 50m rolls of either printable reflective or any other material.

I can get Aslan CT 113 transparent coloured film by the metre but am unsure of its compatibility used over a reflective & then compatibility of a sign vinyl (the black bits) over the top of the coloured transparent.

The other option is to print onto the reflective, but having just spoken to a supplier they seemed to think that any parts of the reflective that have coloured ink on won’t be reflective!!!! Surely that defeats the point of printable reflective vinyl?? or am I missing something?

I have an HP 26500 & the scratch resistance of prints is not fantastic so if printing onto reflective does work then I presume it would be best to laminate. Does anyone laminate printed reflective & if so which laminates would be compatible with which reflectives?

Plenty of discussion on printing on reflective on the boards Myles.

For what you want to achieve printing on reflective is the way to go!
