We were working on a building today when we saw a helicopter circle above us and land on the other side of the building. Didn’t know what had happened until we went to work on the roadside sign. It probably happened only 5 minutes after we got on site.

A sad Christmas for a young lady, but I was amazed how quickly the services arrived and handled the situation.
A very smooth operation all done and dusted within 30 minutes.
It is only when you see an operation like this that you realise how lucky we are to have this sort of service available to us.
A Christmas Hats off to all our service people who will be on duty this festive season.

    A textbook roof chop

We were working on this sign just after the copter had landed

Superb landing in such a small space, rotors about 20ft from lamp post.

Yes, good on ’em. We do moan about our emergency services a bit, but we’d be buggered without them.

How was the girl? Do you know?

    Mike,

Don’t you think having a fire engine on-site is taking health and safety a bit far? 😀

But I would echo your comments on the value of our emergency services.

If only all our tax money were spent as wisely then I wouldn’t have a gripe when paying it.

Are you sure this just wasn’t a practice run 😕

Can’t see any other damage to the car to warrant a roof chop 😕

Can’t see any other vehicle involved 😕

Bystanders wouldn’t be allowed so close 😕

The two male bystanders seem to be enjoying it all 😕

Or am I being just cynical 😳

    John,
The ‘Fire Engine’ will actually be the rescue truck which of course is operated by the fire service.

    This was the real thing!

It was a 3 car sandwich and the lady was piggy in the middle.

There were about 50 people watching from the roadside
big office block next to the road. The pictures were taken after most people had gone back to work.

We all say something at the time to make light of things like this. I even made a comment about her hubby not being to chuffed about the car.

    YES!

As a person who does not dwell on other peoples misery, I at least waited until the lady was out of the vehicle before I took the picture, and then the picture was taken to show what a textbook operation it was and not for my personal grizzly scrapbook.
There were 4 fire tenders, a crash tender, helicopter and about 5 cop cars. Maybe a bit OTT but that’s easy to say with hindsight.
The lady was pregnant and not injured (according to tonight’s paper) but was cut free as a precaution.
The other vehicles involved were moved into a side road as they were still drivable.
