I dont often post things like this but ive just read this story in our local newspaper and I really think the lad should be serving alot longer.

Its not the first time he’s done it either. What a sickening waste of a life, I used to use the road every day when I was a Tech for Shell and its one of the rare occasions that I actually think there SHOULD be cameras on a motorway.

No mate, the time doesn’t fit the crime. Why travel this fast anyway? 163mph? 203 mph? Speeding motorists and drink drivers make me sick. It’s always an innocent victim and the family who pay for some tw@ts quick fix.

Agree Paul. We all know 10 years means 5 anyway. 🙁 But it is a step in the right direction I guess? people have got an awful lot less for similar crimes.

I do think 203 mph is just sensationalism . All BMW’s are restricted to 155mph. And even if they weren’t there is no way a Z4 would get anywhere near that speed.

Can’t see cameras making a difference? idiots would just know where they are & slow down anyway. Then just speed back up.

Sorry Brian, I was referring to cameras on this particular stretch of road. I know it well and its a very badly lit stretch of dual carriageway. Its surprising how many times ive seen people crossing this road on foot too.

I’m familiar with the stretch Paul and agree with you. Mind you there’s something about the A19 Sunderland and south for me that I never feel comfortable about. Rather jump across the valley onto the A1.

I agree, the A1 is a far better road (apart from the section from Metro Centre to Bowes Incline!!)
